Today I woke up at 4:30 am after a disturbing dream. We were running out of time in our country and it was suddenly time to get out. I knew the borders were closing to stop anyone from leaving, but I also knew anyone who stayed here would be killed. I had to take action immediately.
In this dream, all of my immediate family, including my mother, my brothers, and my brothers’ wives and children were all living in one house, like we do when we are on vacation. Something had happened suddenly in the middle of the night to change the situation. Everyone was sleeping, but I knew it was time to go and I had to go right now. I also knew my family thought I was crazy to believe this stuff.
I was not prepared for it, at least not in any practical way. My mind was racing a thousand miles per hour. My heart was beating super fast as I tried to keep myself together and think about what I should do.
I considered escaping on foot, but I wondered how we would be able to get very far that way. I wondered, “Where would we sleep? Where would we find food? How would we get out without getting caught?” I had lots of questions, but no answers. But first I had bigger problems because my wife was not sure if she wanted to go with me. We debated quietly, and it was all I could do to convince her to go with me, but she finally agreed. It was so heartbreaking to consider leaving everyone we loved in this world behind us.
We started sneaking out of the house, but even then we continued quietly debating with each other about what we should take with us. Everyone else was asleep, so we had to be super quiet. I knew if any of them woke up, it would be trouble for us because they all thought I was crazy including my mother who is a devoted Christian. (Her role in this dream does not represent the way she is in real life.)
We went into the kitchen and started grabbing a few items to carry with us. I realized how unprepared I was because I didn’t even have a backpack to take with me, which made it almost impossible to carry anything. My mind was racing to think if there might be a backpack anywhere in the house, but I didn’t think there was. We didn’t have any cash with us either. Nor did we have any plan of where to go or what to take. We just knew we had to go right now. We kept arguing quietly about what we should take.
After taking almost nothing that would help us, we quietly started leaving. We went down a hallway, but for some reason we had to pass through a bedroom where my brother’s boys were sleeping. It was the only way to get out of the house. As we walked through their room, they were sound asleep. We accidentally made some noise, but I looked at them and none of them had woken up. They were in a deep sleep.
We made it through their room and were about to leave, when suddenly my mother confronted us. She had woken up and was very angry like she knew what was happening and wanted to stop us. She demanded to know what we were doing and where we were going in the middle of the night, but not in a nice way. It was like she was demon possessed and ready to do anything to stop us. I knew the same demonic spirit that was on our government was on her too. She was on their side and was even ready to report us to them if we did not stop.
She tried to grab me and I tried to get away from her, but when I did she fell down and hit her head on the floor very hard, and she was knocked out. Then I was both distraught and relieved at the same time because she was no longer a threat to us.
Now that she was unconscious, I realized this was an opportunity for us because we could go back upstairs into her bedroom where she had been sleeping by herself to see if she had any cash we could take with us or anything else that might help us. So I went quietly into her room.
As I was going through her personal belongings, including her pocketbook, my brother’s wife came into the room. Somehow she had heard us and had woken up to see what was going on. She took one look at me and shook her head and said, “Oh no, no, no.”
Then she stomped out of the room quickly. I had to stop what I was doing immediately and hurry to follow her and catch her. She went downstairs and I jumped down the steps fast to grab her. I knew she thought I was crazy, so she was going to wake up everyone to stop us, but I also knew she was a Christian, but a Christian who did not understand or believe anything about what was happening. I thought there might be a chance if I talked to her she would believe me and perhaps she would come with us. I did not think anyone else in the family would listen to us, but maybe she would. I grabbed her arm and tried to think what I could say to convince her. When I looked at her, I could tell she wasn’t sure what to believe. She was torn between thinking I was crazy and knowing I was right. Before I could say anything, I woke up.
When I woke up, I was very upset. It was so disturbing to see my family divided and being forced to make a decision to go without them. All of that was on top of the stress of trying to think about what we should do and how we could get out without being caught. The situation was made even worse because I was not ready in any practical way. The only thing I had going for me was enough discernment to know I had to go, but that was all.
It was an awful situation, but I believe God gave me this dream because He wants to prepare us for what’s coming. In a separate dream back in 2014, I believe God showed me time is running out for safely leaving the United States before it is too late.
I believe the night time setting represents deep darkness, spiritual blindness, covering our land (Isaiah 60:1-3). My sleeping family members represent a condition of spiritual slumber, not awakened to the truth or walking in a right relationship with God. Those who were farthest from God were in a deep sleep while those who were closer to God heard us and woke up, even though they did not understand what was happening. They were asleep, but not a deep sleep.
I believe God wants His people to know what is coming so we can think these things through carefully ahead of time. I believe He wants us to make preparations and plans, so we are not put in the horrible situation I was in. Even simple little things could make a big difference, like having a backpack with some essential items in it and some cash on hand. Also, having a well thought out plan ahead of time would be a big help because it is hard to think straight under duress. Also, discussing these plans with other family members and coming into agreement ahead of time would be a big help. When it is time to go, we won’t have any time to be arguing.
The way my mother acted in this dream was totally out of character for her. I don’t believe she would ever really act that way. She is not confrontational and has never acted like she was under the influence of demonic spirits. Perhaps her behavior was just to illustrate the point, warning how families will be divided against one another.
Jesus warned us about these days saying, “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.” (Matthew 10:21-22)
Solomon warned us that a wise man sees trouble coming from a long way off and hides himself from it by making preparation for it, but a fool proceeds on his way and is punished for it (Proverbs 22:3).
I believe the Lord wants us to consider ahead of time the condition of our family members. We must take action now to avoid being put in the terrible position I was in. We don’t have to be unprepared and we don’t have to leave our loved ones behind. We can claim the promise of God for all of our family members to be saved from the coming trouble. It is not necessary for a single one of them to perish. If we believe and take possession of the promises of God, they can be saved and delivered from trouble. Even though they are not yet ready to believe, we can believe in their behalf, which makes a big difference in what happens to them because God moves in our behalf because of our faith.
Here is the promise of God. If we believe in the Lord Jesus, not only will we be saved, but if we stand on His promise, our whole household will be saved too (Acts 16:31). God is able to do that for those who believe, which is not just referring to mental agreement, not just saying we believe God while compromising with sin, but actually walking uprightly before Him. This point is made clear in other scriptures, which reveal the promises of God to bless the children of everyone who walks uprightly.
- God will bless our children on account of our righteousness (Deuteronomy 28:4, Proverbs 20:7).
- Our children will never have to seek for food or beg for bread (Psalm 37:25).
- God has promised the children of the righteous will be a blessing to other people (Psalm 37:26).
- God promises to extend His faithfulness and perform His promises for our children and our grandchildren for no other reason than because we walk uprightly before Him (Psalm 103:17-18).
- God has promised the children of the righteous will be mighty on the earth (Psalm 112:2).
- They will be a tree of life for others (Proverbs 11:30).
- When trouble comes, God promises the children of the righteous will slip away from any harm that comes their way so they escape from it (amplified from Proverbs 11:21).
These are the blessings of God that belong to everyone who walks uprightly, but we need to agree with God and claim His promises specifically for each of our family members. He has given us authority to do this in the name of Jesus (Luke 10:19).
May the Lord bless all the members of our families who are now sleeping spiritually, so they awaken while they still have time. And may the Lord help each of us use these days wisely because trouble is coming.
