Intro: A Tipping Point In the History of the Church – Church Culture Must Change

Dear Reader,

Greetings to you and thank you for taking the time to read this long but important letter. I am a deeply concerned Minister of the Gospel based in Scotland, UK. I am writing this letter with a heavy heart, but out of responsibility and necessity. I have stood by on the sidelines watching what has unravelled in the church for the past few years and in particular the past six months. I have never seen anything like it in the decades of my Christian life. Consequently, due to the latest exposure, I have no alternative but to speak out at the leading of the Lord.

This letter is for:

  1. Victims of clergy abuse and those hurt by church
  2. Charismatic leaders & other leaders in the Body of Christ
  3. All believers in the Body of Christ

This is long, heavy and will cover much of what has been happening in the church these past few years. I encourage you to send this unto as many people as possible, including leaders, church groups and believers. In particular, please send this unto people who are victims of church hurt or abuse, as I believe the Lord will use this to minister to many and bring healing, as they will know their voice is being heard and matters.

I fear God and not man, so I will not be holding back in boldly telling truths that may be uncomfortable and possibly offensive to those believers who need to hear it. As there is no way to sugar coat the serious issues within the church, so due to necessity, this letter has a  very serious tone. For those believers who have misunderstood the time and season the church is in and what God is doing, this will be a hard and convicting read, however if you are teachable and humble, it will become one of the most liberating moments and you will correctly align with Gods greater and redemptive plan in this crucial church season.

Indeed, believers should remember that Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day, for not understanding the time and season – so He expects believers to know and it is detrimental to not know – Luke 12:56. For those who are unaware of some of the serious issues in the church, this will fill in the blanks, as the Lord expects believers to know these things and also to care, because He cares deeply, especially for the victims.

To Victims and Those Hurt by Church

Firstly, as the top priority, I want to address those who are victims of clergy abuse or have been hurt by church. As we have failed you beyond words. So, this letter is calling for justice and accountability for what you experienced. You are one of the main inspirations of this letter, as the way the church has treated you is disgraceful and I am ashamed at what you have had to experience from the very place that should have been the safest – you experienced the most harm. We have a lot of problems within church, but that is no excuse for how you have been treated as the Bible teaches us higher standards than that.

Although not all of this will be relevant to you, there are sections that are specifically for you, so please read through and hopefully some parts will help, especially the apology for your mistreatment. The other parts of this letter may be of interest because it is discussing in depth some of the problems the church has and some of the systemic issues that caused your pain. There is always hope and I hope at least some parts of this letter helps bring healing to you.

To Charismatic Leaders & Other Leaders in the Church

This letter will help biblically clarify some of the systemic leadership issues in the church and the urgent steps that should be taken. Therefore, as a leader in any capacity you owe it to yourself and your church or ministry to read through all of this and see what parts speak to you. If it does speak to you, it is important to respond to God by making any necessary changes and being bold to speak out against some of the evil we are seeing within the church. As sadly there is a clear lack of the fear/reverence of God amongst leaders or they would not behave the way they do, while knowing they have to give an account to God.

This is a pivotal time in history for church leaders and Charismatic leaders in particular. James 3:1 “Those who teach will be judged more strictly”. The reality is, all those who are in leadership are held to a higher standard and will be judged more strictly as the bible says. Therefore, the church should not be surprised, nor object, that when things go wrong, the expectations and review of leadership conduct is far stricter and less leeway for excuses. So, if you don’t like that level of scrutiny and accountability, it may be time to step down from leadership.

Church leaders who believe the bible must expect to be held accountable and not do as they please and then claim “spiritual attack” when clear evidence of misconduct is found. That claim is a smoke screen and false claim that only those loyal to false prophets would believe. In addition, those who highlight leadership sin and misconduct are not “accusers”. It is not an accusation when a victim of grooming shares explicit txt messages from a married mega church pastor. It is called evidence of clergy abuse that permanently disqualifies a leader from ministry. Consequently, the frequently used “accuser of the brethren” claim is being used dishonestly and will be covered fully later.

While a lot of this will be directed at Charismatic leaders, I want to state on record that I am not a Cessationist. I fully believe in being filled by the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, tongues, healing and deliverance, as these are all biblical truths and I have experienced them. As people will think I am being hard on the charismatics alone, but the issues are across the whole church, so all leaders have to reflect in this crucial time.

It is also important to mention at this stage, that there is a clarion call for leaders to voice their disapproval for the Bible being misinterpreted and misused for financial gain and that will be covered later when The Passion Translation scandal is addressed. As it is time for all leaders who have integrity and hold God’s word in the highest esteem to speak out about this.

To Believers in the Body of Christ

For believers, it is important to be aware that we are at crucial turning point. Which means you have an important part to play and your response is crucial if the church is going to take the right turn and clean up some of the long-standing issues. It is not wrong or rebellious for believers to seek accountability from leaders if clear wrong-doing is proven. It is completely biblical and more important than ever before, as God expects us to stand up for justice and truth when victims are mistreated and dismissed – Isaiah 1:17.

It is not a time to blindly follow a favourite preacher in the midst of the clearest evidence, including videos and txt messages, that cannot be denied. We will all have to give an account before God one day and this issue will absolutely matter. Some believers are dismissing this issue as a “distraction” or being “divisive” or “judgmental” or “too harsh”, but you will see from this letter that such comments are not accurate claims nor is it biblical to respond like that. Some believers may be offended by the truth and correction they receive, but it is all done in love for the greater good. So please open your heart and mind so that biblical truth can help you adjust your opinions, if need be, to what God expects from believers regarding these issues.

Exhortation to Honor the Bible – do you really Believe it or does your opinion matter more?

Matthew 22:29 “Jesus said: ‘You are wrong and mistaken because you do not know the scriptures.” Jesus tells us plainly, that believers get it wrong because they do not know or believe in scripture. Due to the level of global discussion, disagreement and opinions on the state of the church and exposures, it is important to look at the only common ground and standard that all believers must hold to – the scripture. Anyone who claims to be a believer, is to hold the holy scriptures as a life guide and standard for addressing any life or ministry issue. It is the word of God and anyone who professes faith in God should adhere to this, or their faith has no foundation and they are left with opinions that have no substance in relation to God’s truth. God’s word reveals the truth and salvation, so to reject it, is to risk rejecting the very truth that brings salvation to believers.

Therefore, this letter will approach the various issues the church is facing, with a scriptural lens and not personal opinions, which will end some of the debates. Opinions can be wrong and totally unbiblical, so remaining within the boundary of scripture removes doubt, disagreement and invalid arguments. So, the crucial question has to be asked at this stage – if you are a believer – do you truly believe the bible or does your personal opinion matter more? If your opinion states A, but the bible clearly states B – are you willing to relinquish your non-biblical opinion and humbly accept correction? Or do you insist on a flawed opinion that only creates discord because it has no biblical foundation? The choice is yours, but for those who do have a bible believing faith, they are correctly following the words of Jesus who highlighted the importance of scripture to avoid errors.

“Correctly divide and teach the word of God” – 2 Timothy 2:15. The word of God has to be rightly taught and applied in context. As some believers simply quote one scripture out of context and then claim truth and use it to validate their opinion. However, we must remember even the devil can quote scripture out of context. So, we have to go further than that. For example, there is one scripture that keeps getting quoted wrongly in this season which is Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge” – when people expose sin and clergy abuse. This is incorrectly applying scripture in order to use as a wrong defence of false teachers and clergy abusers. That scripture is not forbidding believers from ever judging any situation or person. It is actually talking about not being a hypocrite when you look at the spiritual state of others – as it goes on to say in verse 5 that you CAN judge once you take the plank out of your own eye. It has nothing to do with refusing to judge an unrepentant leader that has been proven to have committed clergy abuse amongst other misconduct.

In addition, another scripture says: John 7:24 “Stop judging by outward appearances but judge correctly with righteous judgement”. Scripture does not contradict, so correctly dividing the word of God in this case clearly means that there are certain contexts and ways we judge (i.e. righteously) and not that we never judge at all. Therefore, in the context of exposures, it is absolutely correct to judge it righteously. Or we wrongly conclude that we should never hold leaders to account, especially when there is clear evidence and some of these leaders have ended up in prison – how can we possibly defend them by saying: “Do not judge?” So that should clear that up biblically for those who trust in His word and proves beyond doubt that this commonly used phrase is clearly out of context when talking about exposures. Consequently, some believers will have to leave behind long held opinions that are simply not biblical or risk remaining on a different page to their Maker.

Another important measurement is to ask: “How would Jesus respond and would this be seen as “un-Christ like”? All those who claim to be believers are supposed to represent Jesus and be like Him, in love, truth and righteousness – 1 John 4:17. To claim to be a believer, but then behave un-Christ like with consistent abusive, lying and unloving behaviour is deemed as hypocrisy by the scripture and the bible says there is no eternal life for hypocrites. For example, in the context of exposures, is it loving and Christ like to dismiss the pain of a victim who has been abused by church leaders, in order to defend your favourite preacher, who has been proven guilty? Certainly not, and that is one of the key themes of this letter, that should be kept at the back of your mind.

The bible has to be the final authority for believers or it becomes a free for all, where believers live as they please and believe whatever they want. As those who are happy to dismiss biblical truth and Christ-like character and instead persist with unbiblical opinions and un-Christ like behaviours and attitudes, will have to answer to God. As on Judgement Day some so-called believers, are in for a nasty surprise when they realize you could not dismiss those 2 pillars of the Christian life and still end up in Heaven. Consequently, when considering everything in this letter, these questions will be asked; is it biblical and is it Christ-like? These are the best standards to resolve the current chaos and disagreements in the church and I hope that your personal opinion does not get in the way of that reality.

Current State of The Church & Exposing Cover Up Culture: See evil – cover it up, hear evil – say nothing, speak evil, deny you ever said it…

Any believer that is fully aware of what has been happening in the church over the past few years will know that the church has many serious issues to address. One of the major problems that has been revealed over the past few years, is that the church and not just the Charismatic church, has a serious problem with cover-up culture. This will be proven without a shadow of a doubt. As the Shawn Bolz exposure was just the tip of the iceberg. Sadly, a percentage of believers and leaders will say don’t address this particular topic, which is part of the problem and proves cover-up culture is built-into some believers. When large numbers of victims are being hurt and may never return to church and be lost forever because of it – you can be sure this is one of the Lord’s top priorities, whether you agree or not. Also, the name of Jesus is being reproached by scandal after scandal. As barely a day goes past without another genuine exposure, which shows just how much rot has set in and ungodly leadership structures and practices that exist.

Jeremiah 23:1 – “What sorrow awaits the leaders of My people—the shepherds of My sheep—for they have destroyed and scattered the very ones they were expected to care for,” says the LORD. Scripture is clear that judgment will come for leaders who mistreat the people under their care. Yet this has become a systemic issue in the church – the place that is meant to be the safest. Then when that sin and abuse is uncovered, they attempt to cover it up, when scripture clearly warns: Proverbs 28:13 – “Whoever covers their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

So, for those who are sceptical and deny there is any such thing as cover up culture, let us examine the proof. Keep in mind that the scandals of all types, including clergy abuse are happening all over the world; Europe, America, Africa, Asia, with countless examples in each. The following is the pattern seen with the majority of these cases: First a minister is alleged to be guilty of some form of clergy abuse or misconduct. Next, it is raised with the elders/leadership teams. The leadership team prioritize the minister and ministry over victims. The victim is then silenced and marginalised and receives no care and is even vilified and falsely accused. Finally, the church chooses to “restore” or continue with the minister as if nothing happened and they continue their negative behaviour. This horrific and unbiblical church leadership pattern is consistent with the scandals across the world.

When the false prophet or clergy abuser is finally exposed, in more or less every case, it is proven that the church leadership knew about it YEARS before and did nothing. Then their years late lame repentances and statements are laced with lies and deflection of blame. That is the definition of cover-up culture and the fact that it happens all over the world, reveals to us a shocking and undeniable fact: Cover Up Culture is a systemic problem in the church. It is not a few bad apples or a few bad churches, or only happens in this country or that continent. It is inherent in the very culture that church has developed. When a false prophet is caught using Facebook or a minister is caught with txts proving they are grooming someone, the first response of leadership teams is to focus on reputation damage, deflection, victim blame, cover up and most of all – never speak up and warn the rest of the Body of Christ.

This dereliction of duty will be judged heavily by God for the enablers who have shockingly made church a “safe place for Wolves” to thrive and destroy the sheep. Many overseers and leadership teams have blood on their hands. They can attempt to deny it all and hide the receipts, emails, videos and txts, but God sees all and will judge it all. Many leadership teams prioritize financial gain over ministry integrity and genuine care for victims. The only consideration is the profit that may be lost through warning believers that they have knowingly hosted a fraud and afraid to loose the revenue the wolf in sheep’s clothing brings. The love of money is a root of all evil and has corrupted the hearts and minds of leaders across the world to disobey the word and fear man more than God.

There are some leaders who’s name comes up in several scandals, where they knowingly allowed clergy abusers and frauds to remain active, while behaving like true restoration had occurred. They should repent and resign as they are enablers and part of the problem and most of the Body of Christ know this now. As those who protect and cover wolves and predators are also guilty of sin and scripture confirms this, so they have proven they should not be in any type of oversight position. Instead of sounding the alarm, they re-release predators back amongst the sheep without a word of warning or care for the welfare of believers. Time and again those involved in the investigations showed no care for victims and mistreated them, all the while looking at how to cover and reinstate predators and false prophets. They prioritized false teachers, reputation and financial gain over victims, that is not acceptable and disqualifies a leader from leadership.

Cover-up culture is not limited to the Charismatic church either. The recent exposure of popular musician Michael Tate also proved the systemic nature of cover up. To his credit, he took full responsibility for his actions, however, the same cover-up pattern emerged when it was revealed that his misdemeanours were common knowledge amongst Christian musicians – but unsurprisingly – everyone stayed silent while multitudes were attending his concerts with the belief he was a genuine Christian musician living a holy life…

In addition, we see that despite clear exposures of sin, clergy abuse and misconduct by several leaders, other leaders, particularly in the Charismatic circles, just continue doing conferences and events with each other as if nothing has happened. Some of those leaders should no longer be in ministry, never mind doing conferences. It is a shocking reflection of the lack of integrity of some leaders when clear evidence, receipts of clergy abuse and misconduct have been provided, yet there is no hesitation to connect with proven false teachers. There is such a thing as guilt by association and therefore this pattern is also wrong. Scripture says in 1 Timothy 5:22 “Do not partake in the sins of others” – so you can partake of others sins. Also 1 Corinthians 15:33 “Bad company corrupts good morals.” So, it absolutely does matter and has a negative impact. Plus, believers who attend such conferences are helping to sustain those leaders who have proven they lack integrity and are supporting false prophets, so they indirectly become part of the problem.

Due to this ungodly cover up culture, people are ending up being lost for eternity, being broken beyond repair, leaving the church. That is the consequence. This is why this letter is absolutely necessary. As we’re still at the point where most leaders are being silent and refusing to take action or accountability seriously. The silence of leaders in the face of clear cover up culture means they are complicit.

What Season is the Church in & What is God doing with these exposures?

The nation of Israel missed their time of visitation because they did not correctly discern the timing of the Lord – Luke 19:44. Therefore, it is essential to understand God’s timing and seasons or we too can suffer loss and miss God’s plans for us, individually and corporately. The church is currently in a crucial season where God is cleansing His church and revealing systemic issues that have gone un-noticed for decades. This is leading to exposures and revelation of hidden sin and compromise that most of the church never knew was happening.

“Judgment begins in the house of God” – 1 Peter 4:17. Yes God is judging His house, His own people and unhealthy church cultures that have been established. As previously covered, the church has a serious issue with choosing to cover and hide sin and then stay silent, instead of exposing it to true accountability and then following the biblical guidance to mark and void those who are proven to be false leaders. This pattern of sin and faulty leadership is being exposed and judged. It is clear it does not work and so God has allowed it to be revealed clearer than ever before. Countless exposures have exposed this corrupt practice that leaves victims hurt and side lined, while predators and clergy abusers are allowed to continue with impunity following successful cover up interventions from leadership teams. This is why exposure ministries are essential because the current church system means leadership teams will not hold their ministers accountable for sin and clergy abuse. Therefore, there is no alternative but for specific discernment ministries to be raised up to expose the corruption and victim blaming pattern of church leadership.

Jesus warned believers clearly in Matthew 24:11: “Do not be deceived as many false prophets will arise.” So, we should not be surprised that there is barely a day that goes by without another exposure or scandal. Jesus warned of it. So, the question is who are they, where are they and should they be called out when discovered – the answer is definitely yes. Or would you prefer they are left in ministry positions and allowed to continue to groom people or abuse people while in leadership positions? No true believer should want that.

In order to cleanse His house, the Lord is first bringing exposure to the corruption and ungodly culture that has been established, then the church will be ready to receive the multitudes into a healthy and loving environment when Revival happens. Or would you rather – revival with no exposures and the current church systems leading to the abuse and mistreatment of thousands of more victims because no one ever spoke out to remove the abusers? Does that sound like God to you or the wisest path for the church? God forbid and He has – with all the clear exposures as we cannot have the influx of millions of new believers into a church culture that will allow them to be abused and then cover it all up as leaders prioritise abusers and reputation control.

As a believer if you don’t care about that, your priorities need reviewed or you are too wrapped up in the cares of the world or worse still you do not care about the multiple victims of church abuse which is totally un-Christ like. This is no casual, side topic that you can simply swipe away on your phone – this exposure season is central to Gods redemptive plan for the church and the nations, therefore dismissing it, is to dismiss the very heart of God for His people. So, to be attacking exposure ministries at this particular time, shows a distinct lack of discernment and spiritual understanding, as it is central to God cleaning up the church.

So, despite the shocking and disturbing nature of all the exposures, God has a redemptive purpose to it all. So those who are in opposition to what God is clearly doing, should pause and reflect on all that is in this letter and they will see that biblically speaking, all the exposures are absolutely necessary. Before God uses the church mightily we must be transformed to carry His presence and power to the nations and that includes the reformation of unhealthy church culture and leadership behaviour. But that cannot happen through contaminated vessels and church structures. The church must first be refined and reformed. That is both individually and corporately. As individuals must repent and be holy and churches must also repent of systemic and structural issues that are part of a failed wineskin that has produced more scandals than harvest or societal transformation.

So, to all those who have been fighting against and criticizing all the exposures, you are fighting against clear biblical exposure and Gods will for the church right now. You are completely free to disagree, argue and make points based on your opinion. But at least now you will know without doubt you are wrong biblically and going against what God is doing in this season. I don’t recommend it, but ultimately that is between you and your Maker, who you will have to explain your unbiblical views to one day. If you disagree with anything I have said, no problem, as stated in the beginning simply bring your biblical alternative, with scriptures in context (not opinion) or you can simply abandon the wrong perspectives that makes you look unloving to victims and part of the problem of cover up.

You may not like the exposures, but you might as well get used to it, as this is what God is doing – exposing sin and ungodly church systems and cultures so that the church can be cleansed and ready to receive the harvest of souls the Bible promises in – Acts 2:17. What is happening is of God and to be embraced not fought, no matter how messy or if your favourite preacher is the latest to be exposed. While we should not revel in the falling of ministries or people and should pray that all individuals repent for the sake of their souls, we should not fight against Gods clear plan in this season or we fight against Him.

The Biblical & Unbiblical Responses to Exposure & Discernment Ministries

They are biblical watchmen on the wall – There is so much talk within the body of Christ of exposure ministries and a lot of criticism and many different comments and responses. Therefore, it is important to examine what the bible says about this, in order to resolve some of the debates and bring clarity on how believers should actually respond. First of all, it is important to highlight that such ministries are completely biblical as they are called “watchmen” as per this scripture: Ezekiel 3:17 “Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me.”

They are specifically called by God to be alert to hear God’s word and warn people within the church when there is sin, evil or potential danger. Further biblical proof of this is when Paul warns the church of false teachers and to be alert: Acts 20-28-29 “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, false teachers and savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.”

They Speak Up for victims & God expects this from believers – Proverbs 31:8 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed and oppressed.” Scripture is clear that being a voice for victims is important and we should speak up for those hurting or oppressed. Which is what we are seeing in countless scandals in the church, where the victims are silenced by church leadership. So, from a biblical perspective, the role of exposure/watchmen ministries are completely correct. So let us look specifically at some of the comments and objections to these ministries and as always refer to the bible for the answers and clarity on what our position should be as a believer.

They should not be doing it publicly, it’s too divisive – This is a common opinion that people have for attacking discernment ministries as they say: “it should be done privately.” However, let’s see if that’s actually a biblical opinion: 1 Timothy 5:20 “Those elders and leaders who are sinning should be rebuked in front of the whole church; this will serve as a strong warning to others.” So once again the simple question is do you believe and follow scripture as the Bible is clear on this. It has to be done publicly, especially when there is grooming or sexual sin, so that there is no risk of new victims. Also, it is not divisive to want to expose sin and abuse and be a voice for victims. It is actually unbiblical and un-Christlike to be against that. It is not divisive to want abusers, manipulators and liars to be exposed in order to stop more clergy abuse. People demand “unity” and say it is divisive to speak out – but if the price for unity is the silence and abuse of victims in order to maintain a corrupt church culture, then it is a false and undesirable unity.

They are too harsh and are doing it in anger – The bible speaks of a righteous anger and a zeal for the Lord which David had against evil and wickedness – Psalm 119:53. Let us examine how Jesus dealt with the religious hypocrites and wolves of His day. When Jesus famously scattered the temple and took a whip to the religious people, it demonstrated a holy anger and zeal for the house of the Lord – Mark 11:15. Jesus was passionate about the church being holy and had a justified anger in relation to it. So, if you think Jesus would be soft on the current church corruption you would be badly wrong. He is flipping the tables of church corruption and charismatic cover ups that has led to countless victims.

Also look how He referred to the religious hypocrites of His day and ask if this is “too harsh” – Matthew 24:36 – “You vipers”, Matthew 23:27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs!” That biblically ends any debates regarding the claim of harshness or anger, as there are times when a righteous anger and passion is necessary and it certainly is when addressing clergy abuse and sin in the church.

I was blessed by their ministry so they cannot be false – If someone was once following the Lord and shared things that helped you, that does not automatically prove they are true. Shawn Bolz at some point would have helped some people, but look how he turned out. So that is an incorrect measurement to use. Matthew 7:21-23 warns us of the many false teachers and people who did signs and wonders to supposedly help people – only for them to be cast into Hell.

As it is not about impact alone, it is about truth and fruit. Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and in Your Name drive out demons and in Your Name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!” So be aware of defending your favourite preacher due to some impact they had on you, when they have now been proven to be a false teacher.

The Pastor repented so they are now ok – This is a popular response online, where believers are deceived into thinking some false and forced repentance means anything. When you study the evidence and facts, the leader has refused clear accountability, never acknowledge wrong-doing and is still doing the same things. Yet a reputation control statement is lapped up by believers who disregard biblical protocol and the clear evidence in front of them. This is often done because it is their favourite preacher, who they will accept anything from. whether biblical or not.

However, the bible is clear that true repentance requires accountability, change and actually acknowledging what they have done. They never speak to victims, submit to leadership guidance and even if there has been a “restoration” process, no meaningful action or fruit comes from it. In addition, many of these allegations that have been proven, permanently disqualify the leader from ministry, regardless of repentance – 1 Timothy 3:2. If it is clergy physical abuse, financial misconduct or any type of manipulation or controlling behaviour, they should never return to ministry.

I have not watched the video, but just leave this Pastor alone – Proverbs 18:13 “He who speaks before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish”. It is highly unwise to start commenting when you have not even watched the video or checked the evidence. This is not only a lazy approach to a serious matter, but an unbiblical and un-loving approach as dismissing the pain of a victim without even checking the evidence is un-Christ like. Some believers jump online and comment defending false teachers even after all the evidence is indisputable and sometimes defend them all the way to prison. Some have blind loyalty to false teachers and abusers and will not accept any evidence. This is pure idolatry and be sure any believers that do this will be judged, because you put your loyalty to a proven fraud or clergy abuser, above God and His word. The bible is clear there will be consequences for doing that.

Listening to exposure ministries is a “distraction” – Some believers call exposure ministries a “distraction”. So, when a child is abused, someone’s using Facebook to deceive people and all other types of clergy abuse, that is driving people away from the church, mental health issues and more – that is only seen as a “distraction” to you? Try telling that to those who have been groomed and may never walk back into church in their lives again. Try saying that to people whose faith has been destroyed, have been financially exploited and experienced leadership abuse that are still in pain and grief and have only just found the strength to speak out against evil leaders.

Those victims and exposing the root of their pain in the church, whether we agree with exposure or not, are front and centre in God’s eyes because He cares about them, unlike some in the church. God is inspiring victims and whistle blowers to come forward, to expose the rot at the centre of the church. If you don’t like it, that’s up to you, but God is doing it, and therefore it is not a distraction – John 2:17. It is a priority because the church has to be cleansed.

Exposure ministries are just gossiping, so I am not bothered about all the exposures – Psalm 103:6 “The LORD works righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly and oppressed.” God is a God of justice and cares for the oppressed and hurting. Where is the justice for innocent church members seeking God and then being preyed upon by predators and abused by manipulative and narcissistic church leaders? Would you rather the victims are silenced and receive no justice because “all this exposure is just gossip” – that is an Un-Christlike, unbiblical and heartless position and view to have – it is certainly not in agreement with God and His word. To be indifferent towards this, shows there is a cold heart and lack of love as God cares, so why shouldn’t you?

Some believers incredibly view the biblical practice of exposing sin and demanding accountability as a GREATER sin and issue than abusing and grooming church members. It is reprehensible and totally un-Christlike. If you have been guilty of that unbiblical perspective, repent and line up with biblical truth rather than remain with a wrong and unbiblical opinion and response to exposure.

They should have went to the minister first as per Matthew 18:15 – This scripture has been used to reject the public exposure of clergy abusers. If you look at the context in verse 17, it is referring to a brother in Christ not a church leader. However, even if that scripture is applied, which is ok in some circumstances, the reality of most of these exposures is that leadership teams have ALREADY confronted the perpetrator years before and they refused to repent and be held accountable. So, at that stage there is no requirement for whistleblowers to confront them also and only get gaslit, lies and fake apologies. In addition, many times these clergy abusers and false teachers are confronted by exposure ministries before they go public. Some of them have the audacity to release outrageous videos saying “accusers of the brethren” are coming, in order to prepare deceived followers for their pending exposure. Plus, is it wise or Christ-like to expect those who have been abused by these leaders to go back and confront them – knowing the terrible way they get treated. So this is not a valid argument, as in most of these cases, by the time a watchmen is exposing them, it has gone beyond any private intervention stage and requires public exposure for the sake of victims.

The “Way” they are doing exposure is wrong – One of the primary objections is the way the person is doing it. So, lets spend a moment addressing this. I will give an analogy that should clear this up once and for all, for any bible believing and reasonable Christians who are remotely open to the truth and sense. There was a politician in the UK, who was rightly lambasted for complaining about the “way” a wicked terrorist was aggressively taken down by police. The evil man had just stabbed and attempted to kill 2 people and yet his only focus was the “way” this man was taken down. The “way” is irrelevant and in such a case the wicked man is fortunate to be alive, never mind wrestled to the ground – the real point is they prevented more people being killed or harmed.

This is the same as what the exposure ministries are doing – they are taking down the evil that has been established in the church for decades – so the “way” they do it is not the focus or main issue. Instead of focusing on the ending of clergy abuse and grooming by an exposed false prophet, believers start complaining because they don’t like the way the exposure was done. Similar to the politician analogy, in most cases when exposure is done, the “way” is completely irrelevant. Believers are attacking ministries online and behaving as if the victims should be silenced and wolves should be protected at all costs simply because they feel the one exposing is “too judgmental”.

Even if an exposure is done in anger or wrong motives – does that mean a predator should not be exposed and allowed to prey on members and a false teacher should be allowed to continue deceiving believers? For the record the main exposure ministries are doing it in the right spirit and biblically anyway. However, if you want to argue they are doing it with anger or not right – the reality is the biblical way you take down wolves who are destroying the sheep is firmly with the zeal of the Lord anyway. As mentioned earlier, Jesus did not play games or sing nursery rhymes to the religious elite of His day – he flipped tables and used the whip.

So that is a clear biblical and Christ-like perspective on these responses to exposure. Now you know clearly that according to the bible to attack exposure is incorrect. If you claim to be a believer and Christian, then you forfeit the right to choose unbiblical opinions over scripture. However, if you prefer your strong (and wrong) opinions over scripture – no problem, simply relinquish the title of “believer” then you can just believe whatever you want and criticise whatever and whoever you want – whether it is biblical or not. You have that freedom and many so-called Christians actually do that. But don’t attempt to do both – as one day you have to give account of your life before God and consistently rejecting clear scripture to insist on your flawed opinion will not go well…

So, if you hear of another exposure, please don’t jump in with criticism, as by default you dismiss the pain of victims, the biblical necessity for accountability and remain on a different page to your Maker. Let God’s process of exposure and healing play out. However, if you want to stick to unbiblical views and make unbiblical comments online – remember as scripture says – you will have to give an account for those words – Matthew 12:36 “I tell you the truth, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.”

The Accuser of the Brethren Myth: Debunking this Unbiblical Claim Used by False Teachers

Ephesians 5:11 “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Scripture is clear that when the deeds of darkness are discovered they should be exposed. Therefore, if evil or sin is discovered in a leader or ministry, it is completely correct to expose this, which is what has been happening. However, within the Charismatic church in particular, there are leaders who claim that those who oppose them, by calling out sin are “accusers of the brethren.” Sadly, many believers also go along with this and accept that narrative, without doing proper investigations or checking what the bible actually says. So it is important to briefly address this and debunk it once and for all, in relation to exposures and cover-up culture.

1 Timothy 5:19 “Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.” Scripture tells us plainly that if 2 or 3 witnesses come forward, that means we ARE supposed to entertain the accusations or take them seriously as evidence. In the majority of the scandal cases, there is much more than 2-3 witnesses, in some cases there is 12-17 witnesses that have given statements. According to the bible that equates to evidence and is sufficient proof that the leader is guilty.

Remember, scripture holds to a higher standard than your personal opinion, so it is not about what you think qualifies. As scripture is clear that leaders must be “above reproach” – 1 Timoth 3:2. Which means when there is several witnesses, video evidence, txt messages, receipts etc, that is sufficient evidence to prove someone is guilty. Therefore, for someone to do an exposure video with witnesses and evidence, they cannot possibly be labelled as “accuser of the brethren” – that is a deflection, a lie and unbiblical, so believers should be very wary of using that term.

As the reality is, those who have been claiming that and “spiritual attack” have been proven to be the most guilty of clergy abuse, plagiarism, false prophecy and abhorrent leadership errors. Beware of leaders who play this “accuser of the brethren” card as it is only a smoke screen to cover their guilt and sin. They simply do not want accountability or to take ownership of their sin.

Look at the example of Nathan confronting David over his sin – 2 Samuel 12:17 and also Paul confronting Peter over his error – Galatians 2:11. These examples prove it is absolutely biblical to call out sin and expose clergy abuse. So are Nathan and Paul “accusers of the brethren” because they called out sin – of course not. Therefore, it is certainly not being an accuser of the brethren when someone is being a voice for victims, by exposing sin and clergy abuse.

Therefore, it is correct to conclude that this term accuser of the brethren has been falsely used to smear those who are the true whistleblowers against evil and also believers, who are supporting the victims. So, remember, the next time you want to comment, the next time you want to attack a whistleblower, remember by default you are siding with predators, clergy abusers and your approach is totally wrong and unbiblical. If you don’t like this truth, simply stop it. Change your perspective to the biblical one. As such wrong comments are only helping to cover the tracks of and support predators, clergy abusers, and people who are wolves. It is also unloving towards victims. It is not unkind to highlight sin within the church. In fact, it is the most loving thing to make believers aware of wolves and false teachers, so that they are not subject to the type of abuse that we are seeing in the church.

Leadership Accountability & What Biblical Criteria Permanently Disqualifies a Leader

This is the season of exposure and accountability and therefore examining what the bible says about ministry disqualification becomes key. As there is a lot of debate over this, when scripture is clear. As there are some who have the wrong and unbiblical perspective that only those guilty of sexual misconduct are disqualified from ministry, but that is simply not true. So a list of disqualifying criteria will be clearly highlighted so believers have no doubt.

As sadly this confusion has led to predators, abusers and those unfit for ministry being allowed back into leadership positions, which has led to significant abuse for victims. As sadly this particular mistake is central to the systemic issues that the church has. As leadership teams have sought to “restore” leaders back into ministry when they are in fact permanently disqualified according to the bible.

In addition, elaborate cover up’s have occurred where alleged “investigations” have occurred, which are only one sided with the single aim of covering the misconduct of the leader and vilifies victims and vulnerable believers. Sadly, this has been one of the most common patterns of the cover up system, where a leader is found to have serious allegations against them and sufficient evidence for leadership teams to take action, however, after mostly failed interventions, they declare that leader “restored.” Even though the minister was completely unrepentant and unwilling to take any serious responsibility for their actions or change. Then a poor excuse for a “repentance” video is released. Then the offender simply goes unto re-offend.

This is not allegations, this has been a systemic pattern within the church for years and has been proven without a shadow of doubt in the past year. This ungodly church pattern has made paedophiles and predators flourish in the church, time and time again. There have been some cases where there were up to 17 victims, but most cases have at least a few credible witnesses, but leadership teams shut it down, in order to protect the profit they get from those wolves. Do not think the judgment of God can be escaped for this great evil as warned in Matthew 7:21-23. It warns those who thought they did great things for God, only to be told depart from me for their evil doing – that absolutely applies to such cover-up leaders who have allowed systemic abuse to be perpetrated on God’s people.

Indeed, those leaders guilty of this, will think they are helping the false teachers and abusers, but all they are doing is ushering them into God’s ultimate judgment, as they will continue in the false sense of security in ministry, only to stand before God and be told depart from Me. Shawn Bolz exposure is actually the mercy of God, because now he cannot harm anyone else with his fraud, but for his sake, he may be forced to realize the error of his ways and repent and be saved.

Those who would defend this failed approach, should simply look at the fruit of it – look at the chaos and abuse that has followed and number of re-offenders allowed to harm people and the reproach to God. Those leadership teams who have been guilty of this, and some church leaders names come up in several failed “restoration” processes, must repent and change their approach or be judged by God. Some need to resign due to gross negligence as they put wolves back amongst sheep with no public warning, after a failed intervention attempt, that they know full well the person was unrepentant. As covering sin and restoring people in an unbiblical manner is a sin and only leads to more victims being abused as the following scripture clearly states: “Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.” James 4:17. Sadly, the church have thought it was a good idea, to use a natural example; to restore a person who is a convicted child abuser, to the position of youth leader. This is not only an unwise decision, it is also morally wrong, yet the church has systemically done this for years. This ungodly approach and culture must stop immediately.

Therefore, it is essential that we remove doubt in this area, so that leadership teams realize the importance of their roles of bringing true biblical accountability and being brave enough to tell fallen leaders the biblical fact that they are no longer fit for ministry. Yes, that is not an easy process but it is absolutely necessary. Here are the primary disqualifications for ministry:

False Teaching/Heresy – 2 John 1:9 “Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God, do not receive them.” In addition, in Galatians 1:8, Paul warns clearly that there is a curse upon anyone who preaches a different Gospel.

Any form of sexual misconduct – Whether grooming, abuse, inappropriate txts or touching. 1 Corinthians 5:11 “But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral.” – Some churches have allowed predators to be “restored” to ministry as they claim they should not be punished. This ungodly and wicked practice must stop and any leadership team that restores such a person to ministry is guilty of partaking in their sins and will certainly be judged by God.

Financial Misconduct – Titus 1:7 “For the overseer, as God’s steward, must be blameless, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain [but financially ethical]”. Several scriptures are clear that leaders must not seek financial gain and when found to have stolen, amassed personal wealth directly from ministry or lack financial transparency, they are disqualified from ministry. 1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:7 & 1 Timothy 6:10.

Habitual lying and lack of integrity – If a leader is consistently known to lie and refuse to be honest about their actions and words, which proves they lack integrity, they are also disqualified from ministry. As they cannot be trusted with the truth, if they persistently lie and change their stories many times with video evidence of it – 1 Timothy 3:2 and Philippians 1:27.

False prophecy and plagiarism – Jeremiah 23:32 “Indeed,” declares the LORD, “I am against those who prophesy false dreams and retell them to lead My people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent them or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people,” declares the LORD.”  When a so called “prophet” is found to have falsified God’s words, be it via Facebook, plagiarism or simply outright lies – they are disqualified from ministry.

Leadership or spiritual abuse of any form, such as manipulation – Jeremiah 23:1 “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” This is the LORD’s declaration.” Any form of leadership abuse, whether financial, emotional or mental and using blackmail, threats, NDA’s and even scripture to manipulate are permanently disqualified. This includes those responsible for covering up for the clergy abuser, they too become disqualified without full repentance and restitution being made.

These are all ministry red lines that once crossed, there is no going back and they should be restored to Jesus absolutely, but not to ministry, like has been the pattern in churches. This leaves no room for doubt or grey areas for leaders and believers. So, when the next exposure happens, every believer knows the clear biblical position, so there is no need to argue about having fallen leaders restored to ministry when they are biblically disqualified.

A Defence of Mike Winger – The Spearhead in the Cleansing of the Church & A Voice For Victims

It would not be right to discuss so much of the exposure in the church and cover up culture, without a special mention of Mike Winger. While we put no man on a pedestal, the importance of what Mike has been doing for the sake of the Body of Christ cannot be over-emphasized. If he did not release the Shawn Bolz video in January, much of the Body of Christ would still be oblivious to cover-up culture and many victims would not have had their voice heard. If you have not yet watched that video, it is important that you do because anyone who is serious about understanding the state of the church has to make time to watch it all. You can watch it here if you have never watched it: https://youtu.be/GH05S53QlY0?si=kgwjFXC-vOpwE2-j I was a great follower of most of the Charismatic leaders and genuinely trusted and believed in them. However, following Mike’s exposure of the horrific culture and systemic cover ups and clergy abuse, my eyes and many around the world have been opened. For that a special thank you has to be given to Mike, as he has done the opposite of what we have seen in church culture – he has put Victims and truth before his personal reputation, which has been wrongly smeared across the church.

We’re all equally loved by God. But we see in the Bible, that in certain seasons and certain times, God uses certain believers more. Gideon, Joseph, David and Esther. I am not comparing Mike Winger to these ones or any exposure ministry to these ones, but what I’m highlighting is a clear biblical principle that in certain seasons, God uses certain people in a bigger way. That is the reality with Mike Winger right now whether you love him or you hate him. His role in the body of Christ is the most significant alongside those who are preaching the gospel. Those who cannot see that due to blind loyalty to false teachers or an unbiblical perspective on exposure, should seek the Lord till their eyes are open so they can understand Gods purpose through Mike and others like him. So, from myself and I know many bible believing Christians who fully understand the season we are in: Thank You so much Mike and please continue the bold call of God in doing this and supporting victims.

Given the level of importance of his work and the positive impact in cleansing the church, it has shocked me at the level of attack and abuse he has received. People have cared more about his approach or style, than supporting victims or seeing terrible clergy abuse be exposed. People have decided to put their bibles down and instead go with unbiblical perspectives, like was covered in the previous sections. The fact that wolves, false teachers and a contingent of believers with wrong perspectives are attacking him, is clear testament he is doing the will of God. If you want to side with proven false teachers and wolves and attack him, you are not only opposing him, but by default you are dismissing the brave witnesses he has represented. That is unloving and completely un-Christ like behaviour towards those abused by church leaders.

I am yet to come across anyone who is attacking Mike Winger who truly understands the season the church is in and the gravity of the spiritual rot that has taken root in the church. If you claim to understand this, you will not attack one of the primary people God is using to spearhead the cleansing and reformation of a desperately unhealthy church, that has systemic issues that provide the breeding ground for sin, corruption, abuse, wolves and cover up. Multitudes are dying and going to Hell due to the horrific state of the church and ungodly cultures and gross cover up of sin and abuse of victims. When you truly understand that, you will not be quick to make a wrong judgement on Mike Winger and what God is clearly using him to do. Due to the shocking state of cover up culture, leaders will never truly hold sinful behaviour to account, so the only alternative is people like Mike Winger having to be used by God. You can agree or disagree based on an unbiblical opinion, but that does not change the fact it is 100% true.

Mike Winger has been clearly used by God as a spearhead to expose what’s been going on. No one is perfect, but his impact has been enormous for the Body of Christ and victims in particular. So when you attack him, you are going against God’s purposes and the person that God is using. We cannot on one hand say: “God is doing exposure to cleanse the church”, and then we want to attack one of the primary people God is using to do that. Sorry but you cannot claim to understand and then attack him at the same time. God has chosen to use Mike Winger. Do you know why God’s using him up? The primary reason is that within the church leadership themselves, particularly the charismatic movement they refuse to take responsibility. He should not have had to do it, but he has no choice but to do it. Because they do not take responsibility, they cover each other up, and this is what’s perpetuating the cancers in the body of Christ and victims have been multiplied because of this. So please remember that before you attack and ask yourself what have you done for the victims of church abuse? That matters to God as already covered.

If you are still in doubt, let us look at a scenario that will end the debate. Let us rewind back to December 2025 before Mike’s video release on Shawn Bolz and the exposure of Charismatic cover up culture. Let us presume for a second you are right, that Mike should not be doing exposures because of whatever reason you feel or the “way” he is doing it and so he never posts that video. That means Shawn Bolz would still be in operation and remember amongst many misdemeanours, he prophesied over a lady who was almost killed by her husband due to his false prophecy. So, more people would be getting abused and deceived and heading to Hell. It seemed like half the charismatic church released statements, as most of them knew exactly what was going on for years, but in keeping with cover up culture they all stayed silent until they were forced to speak.

So all of these ministries would still be following their flawed system of cover up, so more and more victims would be hurt. Multiple frauds who have since been exposed, would still be continuing un-checked and ultimately the church would be stuck with a horrific unbiblical culture that prioritizes money, power, reputation and fame over truth, love and care for members or victims. That single video changed the very fabric of the church and was one of the biggest turning points in church history. The majority of born-again believers around the world have had their eyes opened through it and it led to the greatest accountability push the body of Christ has ever seen. The church, in a good way, will never be the same again because of that video, as so much corruption was exposed and has begun to be cleaned up in the church. Churches and leaders were forced to admit terrible wrong-doing and make tangible positive changes, which was unprecedented.

So, to the Mike Winger critics – in light of that scenario and the clear historic impact his video has had, do you still wish to criticise and wish Mike had stayed silent in keeping with the perverse cover up culture? If your answer is still yes, then not only are you persisting with an unbiblical and un-Christ like perspective, your spiritual state requires urgent attention and you should seek the Lord before your heart becomes too hard to repent.

I conclude this section with an excellent quote from Chris Turner on Mike Winger that sums it up perfectly. Chris did some excellent work alongside Mike Winger to expose an Australian “prophet” who was caught using Facebook to prophecy and you can read his full statement on his Facebook page:

“Many leaders acknowledge God is clearly doing something in this season of exposure yet criticize, attack and defame the clear spearhead God is using to do it. You can’t acknowledge that God is cleaning His church and yet criticize the main source from which the “God is doing something” is coming from.

I wonder if Mike never posted a single video would we still feel the shift in the season? (I also recognise the many others God is also using in this season). Mike has clearly stated the goal is to change culture. Not to seek destruction but to seek repentance and therefore lasting change.”

Applauding Discernment Ministries – Some of The Other Voices of Truth Who Speak Truth and give Hope To Victims

Along with Mike there are many others who understand the season we are in and are a voice of truth and support for victims. So, I want to applaud all those who are doing this out of a genuine heart and are obeying the call of God. As I know it is not “enjoyable” like some critics say and think you only do it for money or clicks. Scripture tells us to mark and avoid the false ones, so it is only right to mark and commend the faithful ones. So, I want to make special mention of several other people in the body of Christ who are being used by God to spearhead the cleansing and reforming of the church. This list is not exhaustive at all and so those who are not mentioned, thank you and please continue in the bold call of God in the midst of the fierce criticism and opposition from within the church. The following are the ones I have followed for a while and been able to discern and know that they are genuinely doing it unto the Lord, in the right way and right spirit, passionately and with righteous anger which is completely biblical as already proven.

These are Ron Cantor, Julie Roys, Blaise & Christina Foret, Joshua Simone, JonMark Baker, Laura-Lynn Thompson, Marcus Rodgers and the Remnant Radio Team. These are all called by God to bring much needed accountability to the body of Christ and a platform for the voice of victims and whistleblowers to be heard. We are all the family of God, so credit where credit is due, as you have chosen not to be silent in the face of opposition and the abuse of victims. When most of the leaders, especially in the Charismatic church are completely silent in the midst of clear exposures and victims being hurt. They will not claim to be heroes but in the context of where the body of Christ is, they certainly are. Why are they heroes – because they are being attacked and facing massive opposition for simply doing what the Bible says which is to expose sin, stand for truth and for standing up for victims. They are putting their reputations on the line and experience huge fallout for standing for biblical righteousness.

This is a thankless and difficult task that is not done with some sick enjoyment, but with a fear of God and desire to see justice for victims, accountability to leaders and the house of God being purified. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and those in opposition should re-read their bibles so they realise what they are doing IS from God and for the greater good of the church. So please think deeply about that before you comment and attack them the next time they expose your favourite false teacher. Yes it is true there are a few doing it for clicks and with a wrong spirit, but that is none of these mentioned here, so we should not throw the baby out with bath water when discerning true watchmen ministries.

To The Victims of Clergy Abuse: I am so so Sorry for how the Church treated you

The church and its current system has failed so many people. Having listened to dozens of victims stories, when I heard the stories of Ailina and Ashley who were groomed, I was absolutely devastated to the point of tears. Their full story can be heard here as part of the exposure of another clergy abuser and predator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl_adsdcA5c

As they shared their stories and said they no longer had faith, it hit me so hard, as the true consequence of clergy abuse and cover-up culture sunk in. I am totally ashamed at how church leaders and leadership teams have treated victims and prioritized abusers over victims and reputation over genuine care for victims. So, I could not write such a letter without including a heartfelt apology on behalf of the church, for all your pain, abuse and being failed so badly. For this I write with all sincerity:

  • I am sorry for your mistreatment and any type of church hurt you experienced
  • I am sorry we betrayed your trust and allowed abusers to hurt you
  • I am sorry you were blamed and made out to be a liar, when it was us that were lying
  • I am so sorry we prioritized your abusers over you
  • I am sorry for the gaslighting and refusal to believe your true story
  • I am so sorry we tried every way to silence your voice instead of hear your true story
  • I am sorry for the lack of genuine care and claiming to reach out but never doing so
  • I am sorry we wrongly restored unrepentant predators back to church who then abused you
  • I am sorry we prioritised reputation and money over your pain and suffering
  • I am sorry we did not uphold true biblical standards and instead imposed unhealthy cultures upon you
  • I am sorry we manipulated, controlled and shut you down, to maintain our unbiblical and un-Christ like church cultures
  • I am sorry we covered up your pain for years and only responded when forced to
  • I am sorry for the financial and mental strain we caused you
  • I am sorry we used your story and pain for financial gain instead of showing you care
  • I am sorry you were left without hope and struggled to find a reason to continue
  • I am sorry we manipulated you for financial gain
  • I am sorry for the offensive comments from Christians online, that defend your abuser instead of showing Christ-like care for you
  • I am sorry we did not uphold biblical standards and for not representing Jesus properly
  • I am sorry you felt you had to leave faith in God because of our disgraceful actions

I am sincerely sorry for all of the pain and abuse you have suffered within church, which was meant to be the safest place. Also, I am so sorry for those who have posted ungodly and unloving comments that ignore your pain and think it’s only a distraction or “divisive” to talk about your abusers. They are very wrong and do not represent Christ like love or follow biblical truth which tells us to speak up for you and help you recover from your trauma and pain. Please know that those who hurt you, do not reflect Jesus or His word and are part of the false teachers that Jesus warned about. I am sorry that those responsible for your care and some of those that claimed to be listening to your story, cared more about their ministry’s reputation than your pain and recovery. Again, these people do not represent Jesus or His word, as He is a God of justice and cares deeply about those who are hurt or abused by church.

I know you will find it hard to ever walk back into a church or trust a church leader again and that is completely understandable. But there is just 1 thing I ask you to think about. These people and churches that hurt you are not a true reflection of Jesus. Jesus is not to blame for your pain, but rather fallen man and corrupt churches. God loves you unconditionally and His arms are open wide to you. He is perfect, He cares for you and died on the cross for you. He is able to heal you of all your wounds and has a real purpose for you as He created you. I ask you to try and not to let those abusers stop you from giving Jesus the chance to be in your life. All you have to do is ask Him into your heart. However, I know you may not be ready yet, but please consider it or pick up a bible again.

This apology can never make up for all the pain you have suffered, but I say it with all my heart. I believe you and every word you told of your story, as I know the level of bravery it takes to share your story publicly. I am also fully aware of the depth of the systemic problems we have in the church, which led to your abuse. I hope you can find it in you to forgive us and also move forward in a healthy manner in life.

The Passion Translation (TPT) Scandal – The Unacceptable Distortion of Scripture

Along with the desire to speak up for victims and deliver a message to church leaders, another reason for this letter is to highlight another shocking scandal. This should deeply concern every bible believing Christian. It is the distortion and twisting of scripture to an unacceptable level. The fraudulent creation of “The Passion Translation” has recently been exposed and the evidence provided is beyond any doubt. There is a lot of information and clear evidence and I highly recommend every believer, especially if you are sceptical, to at least take the time to watch the full video. If you truly care about the integrity of God’s word and hold it in high esteem, then this scandal will shock you and lead to action. The video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9–owgBjtA

Here is a summary from the website set-up by David Fish, who excellently researched the evidence and just a few snippets of evidence from the huge amount gathered:

The Passion Translation, authored by Brian Simmons, markets itself as a “dynamic equivalence” translation that “reveals the passionate heart of God.” Recent discoveries demonstrate, however, that the work rests on a series of deceptions and unethical practices. A video released by Mike Winger and Minor Prophets has uncovered the depth of these practices, and all of the supporting evidence is available in that video.

  • Simmons claiming that he “translated the New Testament into the language of the Paya-Kuna people,” when an official email from Wycliffe Bible Translators confirms he held no official role in that translation.
  • Using “Dr.” before his name in all early editions, despite a doctorate unrelated to Bible translation and granted by an institution (the Wagner Leadership Institute) that much of the academic community does not regard as legitimate.
  • Repeatedly stating that an “angel named Passion” commissioned and assisted him, then later denying he ever said so—a contradiction documented in multiple YouTube videos.

The full details can be found at the specially created petition which I encourage all believers to sign: https://www.change.org/p/an-appeal-to-youversion-to-remove-the-passion-translation

This scandal is different from most others, because this is not simply about an individual who’s doing false prophecy or plagiarising prophecy. This is the word of God. This is where the line of falsehood gets crossed more than ever before and every believer should be concerned about that. Therefore, there is a push for TPT to be removed from various platforms such as the You Version bible app. However, I believe that due to the entire translation being based on falsehood and plagiarism, it should be completely recalled and cannot just be edited. We will see if the author, who has been confronted, takes ownership and does the right thing by recalling the bible completely.

Message to Brian Simmons: Please Recall The Passion Translation & Repent

First of all Brian, God loves you and those of us in the body of Christ calling you out, want to see you in right relationship with God. However, what has transpired with The Passion Translation is a great sin. I know you may not have thought this day would come but now it has and the evidence presented is overwhelming. As per your previous responses when challenged, you almost admit you are guilty by agreeing to edit the mentioned errors or plagiarism. This will no longer do at this point. The entire book has to be recalled and removed from print. I beg you and urge you to do this and public repentance is needed too.

Despite all the exposures in the body of Christ I rarely fear for an individual, but I genuinely fear for you. Because to alter and twist the scriptures like you have and claim all the divine interventions in order to write it, is unthinkable when scripture says this about those who do: Revelation 22-18-19 “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.” Scripture is clear that nothing should be added or taken away – but you have done that and scripture warns of eternal consequences for this. In addition, in Galatians 1:8 Paul warns us: “Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!” To change the word of God like you have, is to bring a curse upon yourself as scripture says.

Your TPT version has so transformed the truth of God’s word in some sections, that spiritually I am concerned for you. Scripture also warns of condemnation for those who use scripture and lies for financial gain, as millions have been made by the TPT – 2 Peter 2:3 “In their greed the false teachers will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.” Please do the right thing and remove the book from publisher and simply seek God in the quiet to let Him restore your life away from any ministry as what you have done certainly disqualifies for ministry according to scripture. I truly shudder to my bones to imagine you standing before God on Judgement Day and you having to explain what you did with The Passion Translation. I hope and pray you do the right thing as scripture does not leave room for grace for people who commit such a sin against Gods word and refuse to repent and put it right.

Urgent Call to TPT Endorsers

In the TPT exposure video, David Fish commented that he does not expect any of those leaders who endorsed the book to speak out. That is as bad as it is unacceptable, especially considering the exposure and accountability season we are in. If leaders who endorsed this fraudulent bible translation stay silent in the midst of one of the biggest scandals in church history, it would be the most damning indictment of the state of church leadership. So, this is my message to those who endorsed it and they are all listed on the TPT website.

You chose to endorse the TPT and to your defence, it is unlikely you could have known it was fraudulent and for that you can be given the benefit of the doubt and no one should attack you for that. However, clear and undisputable evidence has now arisen and you indeed have a duty to take the time to watch the full video, as it absolutely concerns you and your reputation amongst the Body of Christ as a leader of integrity. As you can be sure that the Body of Christ will be watching with anticipation to see what you will choose to do.

You have a major choice to make and silence and inaction may remove the remaining semblance of confidence and credibility that many in the Charismatic church are now left with, due to the level of corruption and proven cover-up. Your choice is this: A. Boldy release a statement withdrawing your endorsement of this fraudulent book. This will prove you are a leader of integrity that holds the word of God of higher esteem than reputation or unhealthy church culture that insists on being silent in the face of clear wrong-doing. For this, the watching Body of Christ will applaud and significant trust will be regained in a time when the majority are sceptical of church leadership.

Or – B. You can remain silent, say nothing, follow the pattern of cover-up culture, that lacks integrity and ignores wrong-doing and various church abuses. The watching Body of Christ will have their answer and biblically speaking they have every right to judge a leader that shows a clear lack of integrity. As to choose silence over proving you hold the word of God in high esteem, begs the question of why should the Body of Christ listen to you again and many won’t, as the eyes of most believers are now open and cannot be deceived any longer. That may seem a small thing – but there is also your accountability before God and He will certainly judge leaders who partake in such wrong doing. As to endorse a fraudulent book and then refuse to remove that endorsement, by default means you still agree with it and support it, which is grievous to do so. Silence is being complicit to what has happened with the TPT, no ifs or buts, as you endorsed the book in the first place – how do we know you are not still in support of it, if you choose to say nothing? James 4:17 “Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.” Staying silent is refraining from doing the right thing and is therefore sin as scripture clearly states and there is simply no explaining that away.

For transparency and accountability purposes, this letter will be sent to each of the endorsers to give them the chance to respond and so no one can claim they did not know. As it will be simple for believers to know your response, as believers can just go and check your website and social media to see if this integrity test has been passed. As your silence will be recorded in the history books – that you could not find the integrity to expose an enterprise that has completely twisted the word of God and deceived people for financial gain, that you fully endorsed. So yes I am laying down a clear gauntlet to those who endorsed the translation and when or if you respond may well decide your Christian legacy – yes it’s that important as people will not forget. So the choice is yours – speak up and be a leader of integrity that the Body of Christ can trust or show disregard for the integrity of Gods word and then one day have to give an account to God for this…

Below is the perfect example of leadership integrity that I am calling on all those who endorsed the book to follow. Credit to Pastor William from Higher Pursuit Church and big thanks for not staying silent and proving your integrity, as that is not normal in the current church culture. Pastor William released a statement, which you can read in full on their Facebook page and here is the final part of it:

“In light of new information regarding The Passion Translation, and in my role as a pastor and leader within the Body of Christ, I am now advising believers to **MARK AND AVOID** The Passion Translation.

I believe this work has been produced and marketed in a deceptive manner and, in my opinion, brings reproach upon the name of Jesus Christ. Quite frankly, after examining the actions of the author and his claims of receiving “divine revelation,” I find many of those claims deeply troubling and, in some cases, blasphemous.”

Urgent Call To Ministers to Call Out TPT so that it can be withdrawn by publisher

We are in a crucial time in history and church leadership is facing some of the biggest challenges it ever has. The Body of Christ has had a heavy blow with not just the exposures, but various denominations becoming apostate and falling away from biblical truth. Therefore, it is more important than ever that true leaders who have integrity, Christ-like nature and hold the word of God in the highest esteem, to speak out against wrong doing. This is why I am calling on leaders all over the world who become aware of the TPT scandal to speak out and release statements condemning what is surely one of the greatest distortions of scripture we have seen. Staying silent in this particular case, does not reflect a deep regard for the word of God.

While there is not the same pressure or expectation as those who originally endorsed this fraudulent translation, it is still imperative that leaders speak out and prove they hold the bible in the highest esteem. Is it really possible to hear the bible we love has been so adulterated and then stay silent and do nothing? It should not happen and I urge leaders to rise up and release statements and sign the petition and if led contact the publisher as some already have done. In the TPT exposure video the question is asked; “How can you claim to love God and not love His word?” I believe this is a legitimate question and taking positive steps at this time to help get the TPT withdrawn, demonstrates a love for God and His word. If the Body of Christ comes together on this, I am sure this terrible translation will eventually be recalled or become obsolete due to low demand. Will you join the leadership voices and do the right thing to see this translation go out of print?

The Hope – From Ishmael to Isaac & The Harvest

Many years ago RT Kendall described the Charismatic church as Ishmael and experienced pushback for this. However, time has proven him to be 100% correct. For those who do not fully understand the analogy or were not aware of what RT Kendall said many years ago you can read about it here: https://www.historymakersintl.com/blog/the-charismatic-movement-is-dead Despite the sad reality of what he spoke about being played out and proven in this season of exposure – there is always hope. As the Good News is that the other part of what he spoke was that Isaac would follow. This is a true movement of God that will not make the same mistakes as the Charismatic church has done, as there will be a true reverence for God. It will experience genuine revival and the power of God – minus the systemic issues that have been proven within the Charismatic church and church as a whole.

The Isaac church will not only include the expected mass salvations and healings, but a return to biblical truth, servant leadership and a healthy Christ like culture that is opposite to the flawed cover up culture that has blighted the church. Church leaders will no longer be ego driven and focussed on power and money, but rather the genuine wellbeing of the members and will reject any trace of abuse and welcome true accountability. So do not loose hope, the Lord always has a redemptive plan and at the end of this exposure mess, which has been essential to clean up the church, the world will see a truly restored church that correctly reflects Jesus and His kingdom principles.

Final Words

I understand for some this has been heavy and possibly even offensive, because sometimes the truth will cut deep. However, I hope people will realize it has been written out of genuine care for both the church and the victims. It is simply not an option to be quiet in the midst of the chaos and injustice in the church.

So I finish with a reminder to those this letter is written for:

– To the Victims – For those who have been hurt by church, I apologize once again for what we the church have done to you. We should have put safeguards in place to avoid your pain and should have prioritized you over abusers. I am so sorry and I sincerely hope and pray you fully recover. As I mentioned Jesus loves you and is perfect, so He is not to blame for the pain and is always ready to receive you with loving arms. I hope this letter has brought some form of healing or closure for you.

– To Charismatic Leaders & Leaders in General – For church leadership we have reached a defining moment and leaders are being tested and tried. As the season of the cleansing of the church has exposed so much corruption and cover up culture across the world and denominations, not just the Charismatic church. It is a time to relinquish old wineskins and leadership systems and board decisions that have led to a culture where wolves are comfortable and victims are marginalised. Confidence in church leadership has never been lower due to the extensively covered issues in this letter. Calling people “accusers of the brethren” and claiming “spiritual attack” when clear evidence of misconduct is presented, will easily be discerned by the Body of Christ as an admittance of guilt and an attempt to lie or distract – that will no longer work and only backfire.

The Lord expects more from us and now is the time to speak up. Silence at this particular time is being complicit, as there are too many issues that need accountability and changed to choose silence. Those leaders who rise up with integrity and abandon failed cultures and are willing to speak up, will get the confidence and trust of the Body of Christ and the Lord will no doubt promote. Speak out against the TPT scandal and other false teachers who have been exposed – it is completely biblical as proven here and harmful to the Body of Christ not to.

History will tell us which leaders rose up to the call of God and others will fall foul of the greatest warning and most shocking scripture in the bible. I leave this with leaders to ponder and decide if you wish to be one of those described in this scripture who did great things for God – but due to God knowing what they were really like behind closed doors and ungodly leadership behaviour, they ended up missing Heaven. And make no mistake, many leaders are guilty of serious evildoing in the way they treated victims and covered for abusers, they absolutely have blood on their hands and the Lord will hold them to serious account: Matthew 7:21-23: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your Name and in your Name drive out demons and in your Name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”

– To the Body of Christ – “Watch and pray so you do not fall into temptation” – Matthew 26:41. Jesus expects us to not only pray but watch – which means be alert to what is happening around you both in the world and the church, as well as enemy attacks. Now you are fully aware of the season we are in and the need for godly exposure. It will also be clear that the exposures have brought greater good to the church and allowed the voice of the victims to be heard which will hopefully bring them healing and an openness to Jesus again.

When you hear about the next exposure, have compassion for the victims first, not your favourite preacher, or you will end up on the wrong side of the fence again. Please ensure your views and opinions are based on the bible as described fully in this letter, so you do not end up in error or in opposition to what God is clearly doing. Be wise and discerning and allow the Lord to develop your character so you are ready to fulfil your destiny in this crucial time.

 – To the Watchmen & Whistleblower Ministries – Thank you so much for the vital work you have been doing. As long as you are called by God and doing it from the right heart of seeking truth and justice for the victims, don’t succumb to the attacks and criticism. You are helping victims to heal from what we the church have wrongly done to them and they need a supporting voice. Therefore, you are absolutely essential in this season and your voice must be heard. God will give you the grace to overcome the attacks and criticism. By the grace of God, if people have truly listened to what is in this letter, the attacks should reduce slightly.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this, as I realize it has been very long, but I had to include everything that needed to be said in this crucial time. May God bless you and keep you no matter what your situation is, believer or not.

I struggle with cessationist preachers condemning or being critical of continuationism preaching which believes the gifts of the Spirit continue to this day.cessation doctrine is carried by calvinist ministers which say the gifts aren’t operational in this time. The church without the Holy Spirit isn’t going to evangelize the world they work together.’and God working with them confirming the gospel with sign and wonders’

It’s not just the Calvinists; we have anti-Calvinist leaders in our church that are definitely on the cessation bandwagon. Although when challenged on it, there is zero scripture to back it up. The church without the Holy Spirit will whither up and die, let alone not be able to evangelize the world. Of course, that would mean they would have to be working on that at all.

As far as the condemnation/criticism, I grow weary after many years of hearing all manner of denominational / doctrinal bashing from the pulpit. I read a piece recently that put it like this: “The church needs to put away their petty doctrinal differences and come together, for if they don’t, a time is coming quickly when they will be picked off one at a time by our adversary.”.

Thank you Thomas Harry for posting this deeply informative well documented posting, and thank you so much for including the powerful Mike Winger video.
You made me think of the late beloved Pastor Benjamin Faircloth, he always said the majority the Church leadership was so corrupt. I never realised the depth of his words until now. Pastor Benjamin Faircloth moved in the Holy Spirit in a powerful way. I miss him so much. He often was led to. read from the book ofJeremiah.
Only today in my meditation study I was reading from the book of Jeremiah . The words are so appropriate for the times were are living in.God bless and keep you dear man of God.Thomas Harry.
I will post the aforementioned Scriptures.🤍
    Jeremiah 5 :.

Therefore they grow powerful and rich,

    28
    fat and sleek.

    They pass over wicked deeds;

    justice they do not defend

By advancing the claim of the orphan

or judging the cause of the poor.

    29
    Shall I not punish these things?—oracle of the LORD;

on a nation such as this shall I not take vengeance?

    30
    Something shocking and horrible

    has happened in the land:

    31
    The prophets prophesy falsely,

    and the priests teach on their own authority;

    Yet my people like it this way;

what will you do when the end comes?

As if the Lord needs **hamburger helper** it would be hysterically funny if they were not talking about Prophecy in the name of the Most High God .
Serious times , as God will show He will not be mocked.

NB: Only those who watch the 5 hour Mike Winger video will understand the hamburger helper reference! Unbelievable almost to think men of the cloth can be that disrespectfu, ignorant and satanically blinded to say such things.!

During covid we found out what the true condition of the group that calls themselves the church really was. My elderly mother was rejected from a her long time “friends” in her Bible study and more.

I don’t say that to diminish the other symptoms of rot you have pointed out here. The persecution coming will burn out a lot of impurities. I hope to stand through it all in Him.

    Hi Thomas,

A very timely word that explains what has been happening in the church. Thankyou for your letter for this truly needed to be spoken forth to address many issues ongoing in the church. These leaders need to be removed from leadership permanently and the Passion translation is horrendous and there are other bibles that too should be removed for watering down the God’s word. These leaders need to be called out and held to account for the abuse of the members of the church. There is much more that I could say but again thank you for speaking out Thomas.

    Bless you
    L

      Hi L

Thank you for kind words and understanding.
The situation has become grave in regards to the impact on victims and also the cover-up culture that has been sadly established. Sadly some believers still do not realize the significance of this and wrongly attack whistle-blowers and victims. However, I believe more leaders are beginning to speak out and truly the Passion Translation has to be removed from print. It has been shockingly and fraudulently put together, so I can only hope enough leaders with integrity speak out.

      Blessings,
      Thomas
