Our ability to witness to people is greatly aided by our understanding of how they see the world, so we can relate to them where they are.
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is an ideology that has made vast inroads into American society, including public schools, higher education, government agencies, the business world, and progressive politics. It also impacts Christians. As Christians, we need to freely acknowledge the sin of racism, malevolence of slavery, evils of segregation, and mistreatment of black people. At the same time, we need to love our neighbor and uphold biblical justice without letting a dangerous ideology sabotage our trust in Jesus Christ. Our identity is in Him, not our skin color or grievances.
CRT activists and scholars contend that the founding principles and institutions of America are inherently racist, and that racism permeates every system of this country, including churches. (They even see the denial of “white privilege” as confirmation that a person is a racist.) They want to eliminate “systemic, institutional racism” and favor comprehensive system change of our public policy and culture in favor of the oppressed.
They also promote “equity” – not equal opportunities, but equal outcomes (regardless of human effort), an impossible ideal. It is not possible to be both free and equal. If we are free, we are not equal, and if we are equal, we are not free.
Critical race theory does not interpret the world in Biblical terms of sin and grace, but in terms of systemic bigotry and systems of power and privilege. It fails to see that injustice is due to sin but not all sin is due to racial bias. CRT rejects Biblical perspectives on creation, sin, objective truth, repentance, salvation through Christ, and the new life in Christ. It rejects the fallen nature of humankind, and believes that power can be successfully taken away from existing power structures and properly wielded by new power structures, as the means to correct oppressive and unjust power.
It is critical for us to understand this agenda because our way of life, our ability to freely worship God, and the souls of those who embrace this ideology/religion are at stake. The most critical race in the universe is THE HUMAN RACE, created by the sovereign, living God in His image, saved by the sacrifice of His Son, and called to walk with Him. This is not merely a theory, but THE TRUTH.

Author: Mark Peterson
Raised in a Lutheran church in Iowa, Mark Peterson abandoned those beliefs when he went to college. He was a subjectivist, Marxist, humanist, and finally a Christian again after many years. Mark discovered that meaning and purpose in life can only be filled by Jesus Christ, son of the sovereign, living God. He learned that we cannot just know about the Lord, but we can know the Lord and His still small voice that teaches, convicts, comforts, and guides our lives if we will but yield to Him. Mark launched a blog – LifeintheSpirit.net, to prepare Christians for major events that will take place in the United States in the near future. Life is short. God is great. Walk with the Lord.
Great Word, thank you, Mark
