Eastport-South Manor Central School District (ESM) in Suffolk County, New York sent out an email to all parents informing them about the new physician in their district.\u00a0 The new hiring was part of the new regulations regarding Sudden Cardiac Arrest of students Grades K- 12.<\/p>\n

The Gateway Pundit obtained a copy of the email where the ESM stated that there\u2019s a new regulation where all districts are now required to ensure\u00a0that nurses and coaches can address the treatment and\u00a0monitoring of students who exhibit signs and symptoms of\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n

In addition, districts are required to\u00a0make sure that all staff are aware of the warning signs of\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest and what to do if a person experiences\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest, the email continued.<\/p>\n

A concerned parent reached out to The Gateway Pundit saying that the email is very suspicious, considering New York is very close to mandating the COVID shot for students to attend school.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it disturbing that they are now bringing on the new medical staff who specialize in sudden cardiac arrest. Considering we are seeing a lot of adolescents and athletes dying days after getting their COVID shots, it seems they are preparing for this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nThe district is very pleased to introduce our new district doctor,\u00a0Melina Khwaja, MD. Dr. Khwaja is an Emergency Medicine\u00a0Board Certified Physician with over 10 years\u2019 experience as an\u00a0attending at University Hospital at Stony Brook treating\u00a0patients, teaching, and supervising medical students and\u00a0residents. Currently, Dr. Khwaja is the owner and operator of\u00a0independent urgent care centers in West Babylon and\u00a0Manorville, NY. Dr. Khwaja has already spent a great deal of\u00a0time working with our school nurses to improve our systems,\u00a0practices and to implement all new required regulations.\u00a0
\nOne such effort has to do with new regulations regarding\u00a0Sudden Cardiac Arrest. All districts are now required to ensure\u00a0that nurses and coaches can address the treatment and\u00a0monitoring of students who exhibit signs and symptoms of\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest. In addition, districts are required to\u00a0make sure that all staff are aware of the warning signs of\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest and what to do if a person experiences\u00a0sudden cardiac arrest. \nThe attached health survey is necessary for our medical staff to\u00a0complete student physicals. To ensure that our medical staff\u00a0have the necessary cardiac health information for all students,\u00a0we ask that you please complete the attached student health\u00a0survey and send it to your child\u2019s school nurse. Even if your\u00a0child has already had their annual physical, and you have\u00a0provided the school with that information, please complete the\u00a0first section of the attached form to provide the school nurse\u00a0with the additional student health history regarding sudden\u00a0cardiac arrest.
\nDecember 31, 2021, is the deadline for school physicals. If your child has not already had their annual physical, we will be providing student physicals during the week of Jan 10-14.

\u2018A sudden cardiac arrest can affect anyone\u2019: Vancouver to place 1,000 AEDs throughout city

\nThe City of Vancouver approved a motion earlier this month that will place 1,000 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), as well as first aid supplies, throughout the city.
\nAccording to a news release, the motion was brought forward by St. John Ambulance B.C. & Yukon as part of their Start Me Up B.C. Program, which seeks to fill the gap when it comes to the accessibility of AEDs and other first aid supplies.
\nAEDs are electronic devices that can help restart someone\u2019s heart if they\u2019re experiencing cardiac arrest.
\nThe group said that each stand installed throughout the city will include an AED, as well as a naloxone kit and a first aid kit.
\nAccording to the news release, Vancouver currently has 75 AEDs across the city, but they are mainly located inside buildings with set hours.
\nThe stands that will be part of the Start Me Up B.C. program will be temperature-controlled and weather resistant, allowing them to be placed outside or inside and be available 24-7.
\nSt. John\u2019s Ambulance has already placed 10 stands across the city, in various locations including their head office on Cambie Street, several SkyTrain stations, Crescent Beach, and Townsend Park.
