Congress Demands Investigation Into Obama Admin Meddling in Foreign Elections
A group of leading senators is calling on newly installed Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to immediately launch an investigation into efforts by the Obama administration to sway foreign elections by sending taxpayer funds to “extreme and sometimes violent political activists” that promote leftist causes, according to a copy of the letter.
The lawmakers disclosed multiple conversations with foreign diplomats who outlined active political meddling by the Obama administration’s State Department, including the use of taxpayer funds to support leftist causes in Macedonia, Albania, Latin America, and Africa.
A portion of this State Department funding appears to have gone to organizations supported by the controversial liberal billionaire George Soros, according to the letter, which was authored by Republican Sens. Mike Lee (Utah), Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Thom Tillis (N.C.), Ted Cruz (Texas), David Perdue (Ga.), and Bill Cassidy (La.). (Source: Freebeacon.com)
Deadly fungal infection that doctors have been fearing now reported in U.S.
Nearly three dozen people in the United States have been diagnosed with a deadly and highly drug-resistant fungal infection since federal health officials first warned U.S. clinicians last June to be on the lookout for the emerging pathogen that has been spreading around the world.
The fungus, a strain of a kind of yeast known as Candida auris, has been reported in a dozen countries on five continents starting in 2009, where it was first found in an ear infection in a patient in Japan. Since then, the fungus has been reported in Colombia, India, Israel, Kenya, Kuwait, Pakistan, South Korea, Venezuela and the United Kingdom.
Unlike garden variety yeast infections, this one causes serious bloodstream infections, spreads easily from person to person in health-care settings, and survives for months on skin and for weeks on bed rails, chairs and other hospital equipment. Some strains are resistant to all three major classes of antifungal drugs. Based on information from a limited number of patients, up to 60 percent of people with these infection have died. Many of them also had other serious underlying illnesses. (Source: Sacbee.com)
‘It’s getting worse’: An increasing number of Americans have stopped paying their car loans
The number of Americans who have stopped paying their car loans appears to be increasing — a development that has the potential to send ripple effects through the US economy.
Losses on subprime auto loans have spiked in the last few months, according to Steven Ricchiuto, Mizuho’s chief US economist. They jumped to 9.1% in January, up from 7.9% in January 2016. (Source: Business Insider)
US Prepares to ‘Incapacitate’ North Korean Military Threat
USS Carl Vinson arrived at the southern port of Busan, in South Korea, to join the annual joint military exercise. South Korean military source says heightened presence is part of plan to decapitate North Korean leadership. Pyongyang has long condemned the annual joint drills – called Foal Eagle – between South Korea and the US. Tensions have escalated with missile launches from North and assassination of Kim Jong-Un’s half-brother. (Source: Daily Mail UK)
On June 1st The Deep State Will Move To Overthrow Trump: “There Is A Secret Agenda To Allow A Crisis… And Get Rid Of The President”
The CIA Can Now Order Drone Strikes Without Pentagon Approval
America’s remote killing strategy is only intensifying. In a distinct change to Obama’s policies, which allowed the CIA to hunt and surveil suspected terror targets but required the permission of the military to physically launch a missile strike, The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump has given the CIA authority to pull the trigger on its own strikes. This decision came shortly after his inauguration, and has already been used in a strike against al Qaeda deputy Abu al-Khayr al-Masri in February, the newspaper reports.
“Although the CIA never abandoned its role in drone strikes, the agency will now have greater freedom to carry out strikes on its own,” Gettinger said. “In the coming months, we are likely to see a further redefinition of the targeted killing program by the Trump administration.” (Source: Wall Street Journal)
New Data: More Than 1.1 Million Federal Student Loan Defaults in 2016
Analysis of new data released by the U.S. Department of Education reveals millions of Americans are in default on Federal Direct Loans serviced by companies hired by the federal government.
“3,000 preventable student loan defaults each day in America is 3,000 too many.” said Rohit Chopra, Senior Fellow at the Consumer Federation of America and formerly the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Student Loan Ombudsman. “Our broken system works well for the student loan industry, but is failing borrowers, taxpayers, and our economy.”
As of the end of 2016, 42.4 million Americans owed $1.3 trillion in federal student loans. These figures exclude borrowing through private student loans, credit cards, and home equity loans to finance the growing costs of college. The Federal Reserve System puts total outstanding student loans at $1.4 trillion, which includes federal and private loans, but excludes other loans used to finance higher education. Tillerson tells UN Human Rights Council: Reform or US will leave- Currently, the U.S. funds about 22% of the U.N.’s budget
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson wrote in a letter to nine nonprofit groups this week that the U.S. will leave the U.N. Human Rights Council unless the organization undertakes “considerable reform.”
The UNHRC may be the silliest organization in the U.N. To allow countries like Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and China to sit in judgment on any country’s human rights record is beyond absurd. Somehow, the UNHRC never gets around to examining the human rights record of most of those states and, instead, concentrates its fire on the U.S. and Israel – two of the most liberal, tolerant democracies in the world. CBO: Full Repeal of Obamacare Insures More Americans than Ryan’s Obamacare-lite Plan- gets rid of regulations
According to Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projections, a full repeal of Obamacare would insure more Americans than Speaker Paul Ryan’s Obamacare-lite reforms. The CBO’s analysis on the Republican leadership’s plan to repeal Obamacare predicts it would drop insurance for 14 million people in 2018, while 24 million would lose insurance by 2026. Compared to these figures, the CBO’s research on the 2015 full repeal bill indicated it would insure more Americans than the Ryan plan. (Source: Breitbart.com)
