A Warning to the Plumbline Prophets

Today, I would love to bring forth a loving reminder to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who have a ministry platform. Especially even, to those who have eyes to see and may even hold a “prophetic” OR “apostolic” anointing, or office.

Oh, the responsibility that weighs on the lives to those who “see”, those who have prophetic revelational insight into the ways and purposes of God. Oh the responsibility that weighs on the life that even has mandates of reformation and carries insights of the restoration of the forgotten truths to the body of Christ. Oh, the weighty responsibility of the message of God, the secrets of God and most importantly of all the DELIVERY of that message.

For some are called to prophesy, to be mouthpieces of the Lord’s heart delivering His intent and purposes for His beloved. Some are called to forge reformation to a generation of believers who have been found lost and wandering off the road of the truth due to being fed a watered down Gospel, mixed with the wisdom of this world and age. But with this calling comes great responsibility. With the ability to “see” comes great responsibility as to what you do with what you “see”.

We need to remember as “seers”, (now I’m not just talking about those who have heavenly visions and encounters, I am talking to all prophetic mouthpieces who “see” according to the revelatory insight and wisdom into the word of God, a “knowing by discernment”, and also those who dream and encounter visions of the night), I believe all those called to the prophetic “see”, it just depends upon which vehicle you see through. Anyway, we as “seers” need to remember, the reason by which we “see”.

The heart of the “true seer” has a passion for truth. They have a passion to see truth upheld. We know through scripture that the prophetic role is to restore hearts to the Lord and realign that which may be out of alignment. In other word’s, at large, the prophetic office is to release the word of the Lord to bring about repentance into the hearts and lives of His people in order to restore intimacy and fellowship with the Lord.

THE CALL OF THE PLUMBLINE PROPHETS
I see more than ever in this day, the Lord is raising up “plumbline prophets”. Those who are called to restore truths to the church to bring about a plumbline alignment.

Though many can “see” and are equally called to “tell” what they see, I feel the Lord is wanting to remind those that carry these reforming “plumbline truths”, to not forget that it is by MERCY and TRUTH that iniquity is purged out of the heart of a man. Not TRUTH ALONE.

Let us not forget dear brethren, it is by MERCY AND TRUTH that iniquity is purged out of the heart of a man. (Proverbs 16:6 AMPC)

Truth coated in Mercy is delivered from a heart of humility, even though the content of the word may be very confronting and challenging. A word given in Mercy still can be a word of fire to burn up stubborn resistances, a word like a hammer, which breaks in pieces the most stubborn resistance. A word in Mercy does not mean a fluffy, tickling of the ear prophesy, which some misinformed brethren believe. But it is those words of alignments, those words that may be particually confronting and challenging that need the most Mercy upon the delivery.

We need to discern the heart from which all words are delivered. Words that are not coated in Mercy bring forth a sense of condemnation and are coming from a place of pride and arrogance of the deliverer, rather than revealing and representing the heart of the Father to hearer. Repentance will not be the result of these words, but rather condemnation and fear.

HUMILTY IS THE MARK OF THE SPIRITUALLY MATURE
I have said before in other posts that “humility is the marker of the spiritually mature”. Not the revelations of which these people share. Please read my post from 15 October 2017.

When truth or secrets of God’s heart are used in a manner to mock and scorn those who don’t hold that revelation or to judge and condemn, it promotes disunity rather than unity. These vessels obviously still hold an orphan mentality and would be better getting those areas in their hearts healed than use the truths and revelations of God to make themselves feel better by making themselves look higher than those they deliver the “correction” to.

Oh that the Prophets of this age would hold this heart. Oh that the Prophets and Apostles of this age would come into a greater maturity through the valley of humility. That they would not boast in encounters and heavenly experiences to elevate themselves, but rather use these encounters and experiences to promote desire in the body of Christ to repent and run into the heart of the one who truly holds the keys to eternal life.

I believe the Lord is bringing these ones through. I see ones the Lord is bringing forth. These reformers are both Apostles and Prophets who have been baptized in the Jordan river of “death to themselves” and truly are being raised up in humility and love and will speak forth the truth and revelations coated with mercy for the purpose of bringing forth a bride purified and purged of iniquity. These words will be strong words of repentance, but will demonstrate the heart of the father who by His love draws men to repentance. (Romans 2:4)

As much as this has certain points of truth in it, if you followed this to the letter you would be just as in error as you have deemed many other prophets are. Coming in mercy and humility does not always sound merciful and humble to human ears. When God sent Jonah to warn Ninevah, he didn’t come apologizing for the impending judgement, weeping and saying how God wished He didn’t have to say this, or any other phrases that sound ‘humble and merciful’ to human beings. Jesus didn’t weep while He wielded the whip in the synagogue, or apologize for calling the pharisees and scribes hypocrites and vipers. You can open your Bible to many lines of the prophets and find their messages were very hard hitting and straight to the point – what you might deem ‘truth’ but not ‘mercy’. However, these very vital characteristics you have named are not going to appear to what they are all the time, by human eyes. To the contrary, they are attributes of Spirit, discerned in and by the Spirit. How much humility before God did it take for Jonah to finally preach the word of judgement to Ninevah? How much mercy did Jesus actually have towards people when He revealed the anger of God against the practices of the money-changers, and told the pharisees and scribes of their hypocrisy? It IS merciful to tell someone in and by the Spirit, that they are in danger of judgement. It IS humble to do exactly as God tells you to do even when you know how it’s going to appear before men’s eyes. I think the Church is at a critical stage in it’s existence right now, bending and bowing far too much to what people think in themselves, see with their… Read more »

Very true.

Truth in Love – should be man’s motto.
Mercy is from God- his domain.
Man just needs to be primed on his delivery, based on the above.
Cheers,
Paul

All good points. I’ve always wondered if there are two levels involved. First getting the revelation, and secondarily understanding how it’s supposed to be delivered and obediently following through. Sometimes I wonder if much time is spent on “step 2”…… I make no assumptions however that a “harsh” word isn’t from the Lord. But …..here’s an example if memory serves me right. Chuck Youngbrandt had the Russians liquidating the entire population of Alaska. So, not one believer among the lot that doesn’t get the axe. When I read things like that, I step back from it a bit and reevaluate, because there’s no mercy even for faith filled, believing families trusting God there in Alaska. for me that’s sort of an example that illustrates this point for me at least. (If I’m misquoting Youngbrant my apologies in advance.). SNS

I have found SnS, that the leadings of the Spirit come with everything we need to know – what, and how, but coming into the place where we hear and feel those leadings correctly is where most change is necessary for people. I had to learn how to seek God on a daily basis to bring my spirit into alignment with His, and then I could hear the inflections in His voice, or feel the attitude He was coming from. It’s about yielding to God and dying to ourselves, not ‘learning’ within ourselves how to walk with God. The more we let Him in, the more we have everything we need from faith to love to understanding.

Brother SnS , the reason we in the western world have a hard time seeing & understanding GODs mercy is because we have been trained to see death as a bad thing , an ending , which is a false understanding . What we call death is a Glorious Birth into who we truly are . The rapture & death lead to the same place for GODs children . Death should hold no fear for us if we understand this . We have had great mercy from GOD for many years , HE has sent us many warnings , it is not HIS fault we have not listened & repented . Many great mature comments here I found a blessing . Blessings Z3ers !

John, yes this is true, starting with a death to self, which is never preached, unfortunately. Epochal events stir up a lot of core theological points, how do we apply Biblical teaching to our situation? When do we disobey those in authority? Dietrich Bonhoffer is a good example, and what the German Chistians in general had to struggle with during WW2. There’s a recent book about Bonhoffer that’s quite good, are for those who are called to stay in the USA during the great chastening, maybe a useful read. SNS

Yes! Thank you Anita for this word! There have been many times that I have read ‘words’ from ‘prophets’ and the resulting comments, where I just cringe and have to bite my tongue to keep from saying something I might regret later. Some ‘prophets’ and ‘christians’ almost seem to get a sense of self satisfaction and an ‘I told you so’ attitude about the coming judgements and wrath. Instead of being grieved and interceding for these same people that God loves. Without love, a prophet is nothing. God does not delight in the destruction of the wicked (Ez 18:23). Habakkuk prayed ‘In wrath remember mercy’. Sometimes I have a hard time telling how much of the ‘anger’ is coming from God and how much is coming from a wounded soul, or a soulish pride. We are not in the time of wrath quite yet, so today is still the day of salvation, and the arms of Jesus are still wide open to those who will repent.

YES! I completely understand your comment here Kirk. Amen and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Staying humble in today’s world gets harder, but will get easier if we allow God to refine us. The hardest things we go through in our walk humbles us more and more. Our sorrows and persecutions truly are the greatest opportunity for us to grow as Christians. It is more precious then gold or silver and it is lessons we take with us for eternity. Struggles are the very thing that shows us the Fathers heart, they help us understand what it means to bare eachothers burdens and truly understand the sufferings of Christ. This is one of the greatest equipping of the body of Christ, to understand the heart of the Father and to walk in His love everyday, to love one another as Christ so loves us. Sorry, sometimes I really have a knack of just continuously talking about the Lord lol. GBY brother🕊❤ you are truly cherished❤ all of us together😇

I love this word. It clearly explains exactly what the Holy Spirit has etched on my heart. I so desire to be humble but at times my actions say differently. Im so thankful for God’s mercy. Im a work in progress. Just wish the work happened a little quicker and without so much pain. Thanks for posting this message James.

I too wish the work happened quicker and without all the pain. So much suffering. I remember one time I was engaged to speak at a church. In short, my pride and soul raised its ugly head. No one to my knowledge was moved by what I said bc it came from my soul and not from the living waters of my belly. While I was speaking I started seeing people laugh and cringe….it distracted me so I stopped short. Turns out a stink bug was crawling up my shirt and even on my face. I felt nothing so I kept going and found out just after why people were laughing. And that’s been one of the “easiest” parts of my humbling on this journey. God let me know my words stank to Him that day.

Thanks Brandon. Your example shows you get what I’m saying. We have all found ourselves in situations like yours where we are in the flesh stinking up the place. Praise God that we are learning and being transformed into his likeness!

God is putting His TRUE followers through the FIRE to burn off the dross! Let us endure His chastening knowing He loves us enough to not let us remain in an ignorant state. We need to burn with knowledge of His Word and most of all, love for Him and His Creation. If we love truly, we will have the Grace to tell people the TRUTH from the Word of God with love and tears if necessary. Pray for the Church today, that God will continue waking His sheep up and sending us forth into the Harvest.

Hello everyone! My first comment ever.
Thank you Anita for this profound word. Got my attention for sure. The way I see this is;
1. It is out of God’s abundant mercy to want to give a warning to any person or group of people in the first place. Sending Jonah to Neniveh is God displaying His mercy. He is not obliged to. And no one can question Him if He does not give any warning. He already gave us a conscience to know good from bad.
2. The experience (s) a prophet gets when and after the word is revealed to him/her may go a long way in determining the delivery of the word/warning.
3.The nature and spiritual environment of those the warning is meant for/recipients of the warning may also determine the delivery of the word.
Just my humble submission please!

Speaking of warning: By Bo Salisbury PROPHETIC WORD: Exposure of Sexual Sins (2017) I prophesy every day. It has become a way of life. But I rarely share prophetic words here on Facebook. However I feel led to release something very strong in this moment. I heard the Lord say that there is coming a mass exposure of both positive and negative things in this upcoming season. There is a Samuel generation arising today that will be exposed to the church as they continue to develop their prophetic sharpness, godly character and powerful influence in the earth. But at the same time there is coming an exposure of secret sins that are lurking in the shadows of Eli’s sons, who slept with women at the door of the tabernacle. There are many powerful ministers in the land, even prolific prophetic and apostolic voices, that are hiding sexual sins while they are gaining popularity in their respective camps. While “the Samuels” of today are slowly increasing their sphere of authority through faithfulness, “the Eli’s sons”of today are using their positions, bold charisma and powerful gifts to gain quite a following, but at the same time to mask the sexual dysfunction they cleverly hide. This exposure of sexual dysfunction will be two-fold. Some sins will come out into the open through public scandal. Others will become discernible to the pure in heart. But both types will cause an exodus out of the camps of those who have been previously enamored by the presence of charisma and gifting and into the camps of those who may not be as flashy but have solid character and a heart to lead this generation forward in the purposes of God. For any ministers who may be reading this who are struggling with gross sexual sin, please… Read more »
