On 3/10/2021 I watched a YouTube video by Carly Waddell where she documented her home patio remodel. Do you remember Carly from the Bachelor franchise? She’s the one who met and married Evan Bass on TV. They went on the have two children together but sadly decided to part ways late last year.
So anyway I watched as Carly sipped wine while her gray-haired mother got up on a ladder and hung lights around the perimeter of Carly’s patio. After Mom worked for over an hour hanging up the lights, she realized that the lights were defective. So then it showed Mom getting back up on the ladder to take all the lights back down.
Now that video really gave me pause. I knew the Lord was trying to show me something but what?
The very next day my mother called me. Without preamble she jumped right into the reason for her call. She was concerned about a family member, Jamie (not her real name). She mentioned that Jamie was worried about being able to pay for her February electric bill, which would be astronomical due to the cold spell we had last month. Mom said she was thinking about covering it for her.
Then she mentioned that Jamie’s condo was still in disarray from the move and there were boxes that still needed to be unpacked. So Mom was thinking about hiring some professional organizers to help her get organized. Then she mentioned Jamie’s nails, which she had bitten. Mom said she was going to send her some money for a manicure. And Jamie’s new kitty needed a kitty condo, so Mom would take care of that too. And Jamie was out of her favorite protein drink, so Mom would send her some. And Jamie was having trouble sleeping because she was out of her magnesium supplement, so Mom was getting ready to order it for her.
Now while Mom was talking, I realized that we had had this same conversation about Jamie, not once or twice, but over and over again for many years. And I have to confess that not only was Mom jumping in to rescue Jamie all the time, but I was doing it too. Yes, guilty as charged. At that point I stopped her and said that the Lord had been giving me some visions about this very topic.
On 9/19/2020 in a vision I saw a mother fix her grown daughter a meal and serve it to her. Then the mom cut up the meat into little pieces for her adult daughter.
Then on 2/24/2021 in a vision I saw my sister wash her hands in the sink and then leave the water running. I asked her to please turn off the water, but she left it running. Then I said to her “Do you need my assistance wiping your butt too?”
Then in another vision on 3/4/2021, I saw a man feeding his wife with a spoon as they sat on the deck of a ship. Then I heard the Holy Spirit say the word “SPOON-FEED”. End of visions.
Now the second vision elicited a laugh out of my mother, but she seemed genuinely puzzled over the “spoon-feed” word. I told her it meant to provide someone with so much help that they do not need to think for themselves or to act independently.
I said that whenever Jamie gets into trouble, she turns to Mom or me or other people in her life for help. Jamie expects one of us to rescue her every time.
The fact of the matter is that Jamie should be turning to God for help and not man. Mom and I are not her saviors. There is only one savior and that would be Jesus. And by always rescuing her, we are really not helping her at all. Actually we are hurting her because she is not learning to rely on Jesus for her help.
PSALM 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
PSALM 121:1 I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from which comes my help.
2My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
ISAIAH 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
PSALM 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
PSALM 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
PROVERBS 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
JEREMIAH 17:5 Thus says the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD. 6For he shall be like the shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited.
JEREMIAH 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when the heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
ISAIAH 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, says the LORD, that take counsel, but not from me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked my counsel; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your humiliation.
SONG OF SOLOMON 8:5 Who is this that comes up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?
Author: Dana R
The Lord began drawing Dana to Him about six months before she was saved. By January of 2015, the urgency to make a decision about God was so strong, that it was all she could think about, but she was clueless how to even get saved. One day in her bedroom, she cried out to God telling him she really wanted to be saved, but she didn’t know how. Then she had the thought, maybe she could Google it. And that’s what she did. She found instructions on the Internet and said the Salvation prayer out loud.
In 2017 the Lord led her 600 miles away from her family, friends and home to a place she had never been and did not want to go – Missouri. Then in April of 2019 the Lord gave her a vision of a woman sitting at a desk, writing on paper. That’s when she knew He wanted her to write, but what on earth could she possibly write about? Then in July of 2020 the Lord gave her a vision of an eyebrow pencil outlining a woman’s eye. She interpreted that to mean “I OUTLINE”. And that is exactly what He did. And that’s how the Lord got her to pick up her pen.
