“I have set before you an open door, but there are many of you who do not recognize it.”

In the book of Revelation chapter four, John speaks about an encounter that he had in which he saw a door standing open in heaven. Then he heard a voice as a trumpet speaking to him, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

He was immediately in the Spirit and described what he saw. There is a door open in the Spirit realm to those of us who are in Covenant with Jesus. The Holy Spirit wants to show us things beyond the natural realm through His word, and He is inviting us to come up to a higher place with Him.

The Lord says,

I have set before you an open door, but there are many of you who do not recognize it. This door is not a natural door as you would think, but it is a door that gives you access into the Heavenly realms. This is a door that no man can prevent you from entering, neither will any situation be able to hinder you from walking through because it is already open. This is a door of the mysteries of My word.

Many go through this door with great anticipation, but there are others who hesitate to enter because of the fear and distrust in their hearts. As you walk through this open door you will come into new experiences and gain access to divine revelation. As you walk through this door, your atmosphere will shift. As you walk though this door, you will experience My presence and unlimited power.

Some of you are saying in your heart that you have heard this before but you have not experienced it in your personal lives, but as you remain steadfast in My word, your eyes will be unveiled and your ears will be unplugged. As you continue in prayer and intercession, the doors of opposition will be closed and even the most difficult circumstances will be turned around for My glory. Do not become anxious or doubtful because what I have promised will certainly come to pass as you continue to seek me in this secret place.

Although there are hostile forces of opposition, I have given you authority over the powers of darkness. I will visit those whose hearts are submitted to Me. The carnal minded cannot enter this place, but you have been chosen by divine invitation through My Covenant. Close the doors to all hindrances that would keep you from My promises. Do not be afraid to walk through this open door, but enter in with total surrender and submission. You will surely experience things that you have not known before as you accept this invitation to “Come up here,” says the Lord.

Scripture References:

2 Corinthians 4:18
While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Ephesians 1:16-18
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

Revelation 4: 1 – 2
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this. “Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

I read a lot about hearing from God and the Holy spirit – how do I do learn to do this? I am in constant dialogue with God in my head but never any ‘replies’ but am not sure what I am looking for really or if I would even be able to hear. I still live a sinful life but am trying to be better but it is very hard especially at my age – A young believer

Hello, my friend.

If it is any help, I will give you an account of what I did. You’ll notice that my account below is an unconventional description. I did not plan to write you this way, because I myself had to look up what these scriptures said. I received them as I pondered how to reply to you. And now they are here for you to look up and do as the Lord leads.

I first did James 4:8. Then the Father drew near to me and told me to do Acts 2:38. I believed, and with the warning of James 2:17 in my heart, I stepped out in faith and obeyed. Then I received the promise of John 14:17. The promised one then began doing Romans 8:26 and Romans 12:2 in me as I practiced Jude 20 and 1 Corinthians 14:4, and as a result of this, I was able to abide and continue abiding in the true vine of John 15 and thus reap the promise of John 15:5 and Galatians 5:16. And I believe Philippians 3:12 is a good description of where I am at right now.

Young believer…. I kept praying for my kids to come to our Lord, to repeat, trust, believe and follow our Lord every night for about 2 years I believe. One night I was researching the Bible and came across Acts 16:31- So they said, “Believe on the Lord Yeshua, and you will be saved, you and your household.” The Lord answered my prayer, he guided me to that verse and eased my heart. I thanked Him right away! My point is… Don’t ever think He is NOT listening, because He is! He will answer you when He feels you are ready for it! You do need to make that decision to truly follow Him and walk away from your sin or to keep on sinning. It can be hard, but He will also help you. I ask Him to help me be more like Him, to walk in His ways, to follow in His commandments, but you have to change things in your life that makes it easier to sin. Try and get rid of the temptations. That could also mean friends who are not on the same page as you. He will help, if you truly want it! I will pray for you and ask the Lord to give you strength! Shalom

Dear Young Believer,
Responding to the last part of what you said about living a sinful life–Get in the Word if you are not already. Get on your knees and repent before the Lord. Repenting means to turn from your ways. You need to make a decision. The Lord hears those who are sincere, and he hears the broken-hearted. He loves you very much and is waiting for you. . . .

Young believer , Jeanie & RSS make good points , let me add GOD loves you right where you are at , weaknesses & all , I have been on this walk a long time and I am still not perfect except in & thru the Blood . Have you made JESUS LORD of your life , not just accepted salvation ? Have you asked to be filled with HOLY SPIRIT & for your Spiritual eyes & ears to be open ? If you have done these things I suggest setting aside 15 minutes a day to sit with your bible alone & undisturbed and say here I am LORD waiting to hear YOU LORD and I am going to be here every day waiting on YOU to speak and then thank the LORD for speaking to you in such a way as you can understand . Then read John 10 : 27-28 to build your faith and then hold GODs Word up to HIM and thank HIM for Honouring HIS Word , then quiet your mind , listen in the Spirit for 10-15 minutes and in GODs time HE will speak so you can hear HIM , don’t give up , be faithful , knock & the door will be opened , seek & you will find . If you do your Best , you can not go to wrong . Blessings

When you say listen in the spirit what does this mean? Is this an audible voice I listen for or is this something internal? Sorry for such vague questions I have no Christian friends to ask for help but I really want to do this

Y.B. it is different for each person , ABBA GOD freaked me out when HE taught me to hear HIS Voice in 1980 , I was 30 and only been a Christian 2-3 years , just a baby , had no idea a person could hear GOD outside the nut house . A home builder in Dallas sent me out to repair some carpet at a new homeowner ,s house , I had no reason to speak to the man / homeowner once he let me in . I go in the house and do my job , the man is in the kitchen doing paper work , as I was getting ready to load my truck to leave , I am standing in the hall by the front door . Suddenly ( out of the blue ) I hear a voice of Power & authority that sounds like you should be able to hear it 200 yards away ; The voice said – Ask him if he wants to know JESUS – I freaked out , thought I was having a flash back and grabbed the front door knob to get out of there . Problem was my hand would / could not touch the door knob , I was just out of the army and in good shape , my hand would go around the knob but even using all my strength I could not turn or touch that knob , I am really freaking out now . I said in my mind , is that YOU GOD ??? I look around the corner in the kitchen , the man is just sitting there doing paper work , clearly heard nothing , this does not help me . Again this Voice of Power & authority says – Ask… Read more »

Thanks for sharing John. Awesome story and testimony. I’ve also been learning that God speaks to us all the time through our circumstances, people around us, events etc. Sometimes we hear his voice, see his voice, feel his voice, sense his voice, and even smell his voice. It’s ironic all the 5 natural senses also exist in the spiritual realm. And also sometimes His language is different to each of us. There’s nothing more precious than hearing His voice. Wish the church taught more on this stuff.

Y.B. , HOLY SPIRIT speaks / transfers information to our Spirit and then our minds interpret this into our language / usable information to the best of our ability . Be open to how CREATOR speaks to you , listen inside yourself in the Spirit , it may be a small inner voice , a sudden knowing that is not of you ( to read a certain scripture or about somebody or thing ) , some get dreams and or visions . Just ask GOD to help you & HE will . It may seem awkward or even silly at first , but like a child having the ability to learn to walk , you have the ability from CREATOR to do this , it is natural for us thru HOLY SPIRIT , we just don’t know it till someone tells us . Just like we look forward to when our child can speak & understand us , GOD looks forward to when we learn to hear HIM and interact with understanding . At your service any time , please feel free to ask anything & Blessings & Prayers .

Hi young believer. It is really important when you are young (not sure how young) to surround yourself with people who share your core values. If you try to live a holy life alongside non-believers and people who love their sin it will be very hard for you. Make some new friends and make sure you are attending a good church and/or following teachings online. Over time, you won’t enjoy hanging out with people who are walking a different path. Once Jesus owns your heart, living in sin makes you sick. Many mature Christians look back on their lives and think “I wish I hadn’t waited SO long to give up that sin. I feel so much better now.” But you can’t do this alone. Think of all the pastors and long-time believers who are addicted to pornography! Get yourself some backup. Give the Lord your obedience piece by piece and one day things that were hard will be easy to let go of. Look up Relentless Heart Michael Chriswell for more help on walking in obedience. God bless you!

I’m early 20s – but still feel very young in a lot of ways. There are very few Christian young guys my age – I’d estimate a 10:1 ratio of girl to guy believers based on the church’s I’ve seen. I really value my male friendships so I pray I meet some new friends who can help me as majority of my struggles are more (generalising) ‘guy’ problems – sex and drugs etc. I too struggle with pornography and have been fighting it on off for 5 years now. Il go 2 weeks without then lose motivation and relapse multiple times – am stuck in a rough cycle. Thanks everyone for replies and please keep me in your prayers.

Young Believer, I spent most of my life in a cycle of drugs, pornography, and sex addiction so I know where your coming from and I apologize if any of my previous comments were not on target. I just tried to relay what I felt the Lord put on my heart. Please hear me as I feel right now like I’m talking to myself when I was in my early 20s and I’m really wanting to communicate this message after all of the struggles and heartaches I’ve been through. First. The sooner we seek God’s help the sooner He can begin to heal us by transforming our minds. Things can definitely get a lot worse. The nature of sin is to take you deeper and deeper down its path and the further you go in the harder it may be to come out. Thank God that through Him ALL things are possible. Second. There is a way to overcome. It is possible, but only through Jesus Christ. He is everything you will ever, ever, ever need. Never stop calling on His name. Third. God’s love for your is not based on your performance. His love for you is completely unconditional. He will love you and chase you with His love until your last day. Fourth. There is some action required on your part but it is not raw willpower. Though we do need to submit our will to Father’s will, our own strength will never defeat drugs or desire. If we could handle the problem ourselves we wouldn’t have these problems now would we? Fifth. Submission to God is the answer. When we submit to to God we rest under His mighty protection and council. Sixth. Never stop repenting of wrong doing. The day that you stop asking for forgiveness… Read more »

Y.B! My heart goes out to you man and I fully know and appreciate where you’re coming from. I’m 24 and I know how difficult it can be to find good Christian guys to associate with, especially ones that exhibit wisdom, leadership, and a good example. It’s difficult in today’s world. I’ve also had my battles with sex, porn, drugs etc but understand that you even being willing to talk about it in the open is a big step. Don’t get discouraged! Beating those things and growing, deepening and maturing yourself in a godly identity is a journey bro! 10:1 or not, find yourself a community of believers. Immerse yourself in worship and focus your perspective around “the things of God”. Get in the word. If pure scripture is difficult, find a few good speakers/teachers online. If you fall, position your heart in repentance and get the heck back up!

Also, don’t base your security or relationship with God off of how you may or may not hear Him in your head. Learning how to hear Him usually comes with relationship and training, the details of which might be down a road he has for you personally. Develop patience, depth and calmness so that you can say, “God I know who you are and how you feel about me even if I feel like I can’t hear you”. Then take patrol your mind and take your thoughts captive and see if they measure up to what He says in scripture. Persevere brother! You’ve found a good website and community here. Young Believer, let me tell you what I told my sons. Repent of your sins to God and then bind the spirit that you gave legal access too and cast it out in Jesus name. Once you have asked forgiveness the spirit (of pornography/masterbation/etc) no longer has any right to you and cannot remain…. and will not remain. You will notice an instant deliverance. However the evil spirits will try to take you back, so then get a bible verse and any time your thoughts (and often dreams take longer to fully cleanse) praise God that you have been delivered by the blood of the lamb…or that you are an overcomer through the blood of the lamb and the word of God. Wash in the word. Spend more time in the word than you have ever done before. Be purposeful and disciplined to do it daily…it will speed up the deep cleansing process.
Easily done my friend…but ensure you fill the clean and empty house with the word of God and of course get rid of anything that could trap you again.
Thanks be to God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Amen and amein to all who have reached out. This example of all who have taken time to encourage, strengthen and uplift with reproof, rebuke and exhortation IS the body of Christ, His ‘corpus’ who are learning and growing and rising up in the earth today!!! Young Believer, no matter how many days, weeks or months you have in the natural(physical body) your spirit man is eternal and perfect and pure and lovely. You, your ‘self’ which is your physical man, profits nothing. Therein lies the conundrum , which in my mind, is at the base of every sin, weakness and failure we encounter . While the flesh body gets so much attention with clothing, jewelry, food, makeup, comfortable car/house/job/vacation/retirement/etc, etc, etc, ad nauseous!!! What time do we spend separating our ‘self’ from the comfort and conveniences of this world? There is sooooo much attention given to the distractions and toys and trinkets the world offers and I hear the Father quietly, almost inaudible speaking in the background of my life, ‘come away with me’, set apart, separated out from the world, sanctified for My purpose, wholly consecrated to Me… ‘ those thoughts I hear His heart speaking to me and should I respond with, ‘right, God, as soon as I finish with (. ).’ After all, God knows (and here is where ‘my’ reason over rides right/righteous thinking) I have to work 8 hours today or have a meeting at 5 or have to drop off the check to pay for the party for this weekend or a thousand other things which try to crop up within our life to choke the word and make it unfruitful. Exactly like what happened to Peter when he stepped out of the boat and God had him walking on water!!! WOW, this… Read more »

Young Believer, you’ve given yourself an excuse. You’ve justified your actions even if unknowingly. It has nothing to do with age. The Lord said “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Sin separates us from God. (see Isaiah 59:2)

Jesus said “Repent and believe.” You can’t believe without repentance because repentance is what allows Jesus to cleanse your life from sin which allows you to truly believe. Repentance means asking for forgiveness but also turning from your sin. It doesn’t mean that you won’t mess up sometimes, it just means that your hearts desire is to follow Jesus and His Word. If you sin again.. repent again. The Lord knows if your serious. He is not mocked. (Gal 6:7-8) He knows if your truthful. It is not possible to come to God without a truthful heart. God is a Spirit: and they that worship(adore, respect, reverence) him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Repent and believe Young Believer.. the Lord will give you new spiritual life and transfer you from darkness to light. Once you are born into His spiritual family he will guide you with His Holy Spirit and teach you through His Words. Prayin for you. He’s right at the door. All you need to do is open up to Him.

I’d like to add Young Believer that I spent a good great many years of my life repeating to myself that I couldn’t live by the ways of God. They were too hard. In my mind it was not possible. The truth is, that it’s not possible without Him. We don’t clean up and then come to God. We come to God as we are and God makes us whole. It’s a process though. It takes time. Our part is to remain humble and obedient while continuing to repent and seek forgiveness when we sin. (1 John 1:9)

One thing is sure. If there is ever a relationship problem between us and the Father it is not the Father who needs to change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If ever there is a relationship issue we need to take a deep look at ourselves. God’s Word will help you do this as it can divide between your soul and spirit and help you to discover the true intentions of your heart.

Continue in the Word and Prayer. Ask the Lord to give you a hunger for His Word like you have never had and ask Him to give you strong desire to pray. I’m joining you in this prayer. You are much loved in the eyes of our heavenly Father!! Blessings!!
