Acts 2:17 “In the Last Days I will pour out my Spirit on ALL flesh”. Scripture tells us that in the Last Days we will see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh. It will be so widespread that it will be like a global Pentecost. Some respected leaders in the Body of Christ have prophesied over 1 billion souls entering the Kingdom of God. Jesus also tells us Matthew 13:39 “The Harvest is the end of the age”. So while we cannot know exact numbers or dates, we can be sure of one thing – there will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will see the greatest harvest of souls we have ever seen.
In our March Edition it was shown through scripture and current world events that we are certainly in some stage of the Last Days. Therefore, believers should meditate on the glorious reality that they have been chosen to be born at the time of the greatest move of God in history. This is when we will see what Jesus promised in John 14:12 “Greater works will you do because I go to the Father.” Indeed, there are several respected Christian voices who believe the global outpouring has already begun. While we may not see it yet or have heard stories of mass salvations or revival gatherings, behind the scenes and just below the surface, the foundation for the greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit has been laid.
The pandemic will seem to have side-tracked the plans of God and got the world looking in a different direction. However, what the enemy has meant for evil, God will indeed work for good. The global chaos of the past year has only highlighted to the world, their desperate need of a Saviour. Many have realized that man is simply not sufficient to provide all the answers and that they must look elsewhere. Many have had their hearts softened and are more open to God than ever before. The pandemic has forced many to have to reflect long and hard about their existence and eternity. While it is also true that many have sadly lost hope in this period, God will certainly turn the evil we have seen to greater good as we see a global harvest like never before in the years ahead.
Expect The Unexpected Through Unexpected Methods & People
So what can we expect in the time of outpouring and how can we prepare? The phrase the Lord echoed for this period is: “Expect the unexpected, through unexpected methods and people”. This sums up what lies ahead. Many will be shocked at who and how God uses people and brings salvation, healing and deliverance to people’s lives. Church as we have known it will become a thing of the past and believers will need to carefully study the dramatic birthing and impact of the church in the Book of Acts for a better idea of where we are going.
When the book of Acts church showed up – this is what people said: Acts 17:6 “Here come those ones that have turned the world upside down.” This will be said of the church once again. No longer ignored, mocked and minimal impact on the sidelines. The world will no longer be able to ignore the power and impact of the church. Some may reject it, but they cannot ignore its power and impact – the church will have a voice and impact in the earth again and the gates of Hell will not prevail. Despite the unknown territory we will venture into in the years ahead, there are some things that we can expect and prepare our hearts for.
Levels of Glory & Powerful Gatherings Like We Have Never Seen Before
The one thing that God keeps echoing is that in these Last Days we are going to see signs and wonders that we have no reference for. We must throw out all our expectations as there is simply no road map for what is about to happen. Christianity as we have known it and church as we have known it is over. God has saved His best for last and we will be unrecognisable in both our identity and how we operate. It will be like the before and after moment in the book of Acts before they turned the world upside down. The days of powerless Christianity that the world can ignore have come to an end. The world does not need any more debates and discussions – they need to see the real power of God – 1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the Kingdom of God is not word but power.”
Therefore, we must guard our hearts against offence and criticism. Or we will end up criticising the very wonders of God Himself as He attempts to get the attention of a watching world so that many will be saved. We do not want to be those who “Have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof” – 2 Timothy 3:5. Haggai 2:9 “The glory of the latter house will be greater than the former”. The glory we will see in these Last Days is greater than anything we have ever seen. God is going to display His power and might that will make the parting of the Red Sea look normal. When Solomon dedicated the temple the priests could not stand to minister because of the thickness of God’s glory. We will see that in this generation as we live in a greater covenant and blessings through Jesus.
Individuals and groups that have prepared themselves to be holy vessels willing to carry God’s glory by dying to self, will be trusted with levels of glory we have not seen before. Gatherings will be places where the laying on of hands are no longer essential, but just optional. As the glory of the Lord present will be enough to heal people. In this time of increased sensitivity to touching and indeed restrictions in some places, this level of glory becomes an absolute necessity. Believers will also walk like Peter here: “Acts 5:15 “People lined up the sick so that Peter’s shadow may pass by and heal them”. Believers must begin to prepare themselves and their gatherings for levels of glory we have never seen before if they truly want to be in agreement with and part of what God is doing in our day.
Increased Revelation & Hard To Believe Truths
It is a tragic shame that man today, both believer and unbeliever think they have a monopoly on truth, wisdom, knowledge and the mysteries of life. Man often demands that God fits into their personal ideologies and expectations. In this generation God is going to show just how little man knows and understands in comparison. God did not consult man before He created the world, so He will reveal His majesty, wisdom and mysterious splendour in this generation and sadly many will walk away from Him because it does not fit their “God-box” that they have built in their minds. Daniel 12:14 “In the time of the end knowledge will increase.” The knowledge and revelation available in this generation will eclipse those gone before us, not just earthly knowledge, but revelation of God.
Jesus said: John16:12 “There are many things I want to share with you, but you cannot bare it.” This generation will hear some of these mysteries that Jesus desires to share that other generations were not ready for. Believers must guard their hearts against offence, because many of these revelations will not fit our paradigms, religious boxes or our current mindsets. There will be risk of many walking away as the Lord reveals these deep truths to and through His people. Just as we see here in John 6. Many disciples walked away because they could not handle the revelation of Jesus being the bread of life. John 6:66 “From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” These were disciples who walked with Jesus, saw His miracles and yet one revelation and they walked away for good. This is a stern warning as even a believer who has been committed for decades is at risk if their heart is not open or is full of religious hindrances and mindsets.
Restoration of The Fear of God
This time we are coming into will restore the reverential fear of God to the church. This has been distinctly lacking and has allowed sin, compromise, religion and doctrines of demons. There has to be a tangible difference between those who serve the Lord and those who do not. Malachi 3:18 “Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” The Lord will not tolerate compromise and sin so easily from the pulpits so leaders in particular must be aware. There will be upheaval in the leadership of not just spiritual leaders but also those in the secular arena.
We should not be surprised at Ananias and Sapphira moments dotted around the earth. Acts 5:10-12 “At that moment Sapphira fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. 12The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people.” There will be a return to holiness and righteousness in the people of God and His house. We must seek God to have all demonic fear, pride, lust, unforgiveness, religion, self-seeking and financial covetousness amongst other hindrances removed and be ready to stand in His glorious presence.
Persecution of The Move of God & Hardness of Hearts – From Believers
This outpouring and indeed the rising of God’s people to a new level will automatically lead to persecution. Both from those within and outside the church. It is a sad reality that when you study revival history most of them were stopped by so called believers. Unbelievers are happy to be healed, delivered, saved and have their lives turned around by Jesus. However, many within Christendom are simply not comfortable or believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. The most basic manifestation of people shaking or laughing and people want to leave the meeting or criticise. This has sadly been the pattern of past revivals. The enemy always wants to stop a move of God and he is happy to use believers to do this.
God will not be contained within our paradigms, mindsets, expectations, church doctrines or religious limitations. God is about to show us He moves as He pleases and this will prove how little we actually know of God despite our best efforts. Those who have had a problem with basic manifestations of the Kingdom seen in past revivals such as shaking, laughing, healing, tongues and deliverance are in for a rude awakening. That was Christianity 101, we are going to a level that makes that look like a drop in the ocean. Any believer who has a problem with basic manifestations must seek God to change their heart, as it is contrary to scripture and the very life of Jesus to be opposed to basic manifestations.
The bible says: Mark 16:17 “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.” So we should expect signs and manifestations. In addition, everywhere Jesus went there was manifestations, such as foaming, shaking, screaming and many other things. In Mark 3, the Pharisees after seeing Jesus heal a man’s hand in the synagogue – right in front of them – planned to kill Jesus immediately after – simply because it was the Sabbath Day. This is the dangerous level of hardness of heart that some alleged “religious” people have. They only watched Jesus to look for a reason to accuse Him. Incredibly some so-called believers will attend gatherings only to accuse and fault find – even in the midst of God saving and healing thousands of people. This should not surprise us – if they did it to Jesus they will do it to believers today. Our priority is simply to make sure we are not the ones with the hard hearts and guilty of this Pharisee-like behaviour.
Tangible Impact & Transformation in Society
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of nations”. The Church is supposed to have a tangible impact on the world around us. Society should be transformed for good by the presence and impact of the church as Christ works through us. This is why we are called the “salt of the earth” and “city on a hill” – and we will no longer be hidden. As a direct result of the coming move of the Spirit, we will see the church have a tangible impact in every area of society. For too long the church has allowed the enemy unhindered rule in much of society, leading to moral and spiritual decay as well as little harvest or impact from the church.
Believers will have a positive impact on education so we can impact the next generation and introduce curriculum that includes God. Believers will be involved in Government to better represent kingdom values and introduce laws that uphold Christian beliefs. Believers will be involved in positive business that not only funds the gospel but alleviates poverty, trafficking and homelessness. Can a believer legitimately question whether these are the right things for believers to do? Or can the church really claim to be discipling nations without impacting these areas? The Lord will open doors for prepared believers just like He did for Daniel and Joseph and they will be solutions to nations, which is needed now more than ever as all can see. We should be praying for and supporting those who God calls to have an impact in these various areas as the bible is clear it is part of the church’s role.
Azusa Street Revival & Coming Awakening Bigger Than The Reformation
Some will be familiar with the Azusa Street Revival, as it was one of the most powerful and significant moves of God in history. Led by William Seymour in 1906, it had a huge global impact and catalyst for the Pentecostal movement. At that time William Seymour Prophesied: “100 years from now, there will come a Revival that will make this one look pale in comparison.” This leads right into our day and gives us an idea of the magnitude of what the world is on the verge of experiencing. Indeed, this Last Days outpouring will have a greater impact than the Reformation. That will seem a huge statement just now, but in time it will prove to be correct. The enemy is releasing everything in his final attempt in these Last Days so God will be releasing His best wine which He has saved for last. The world will be turned upside down by the impact of the Church finally rising up against the gates of Hell and performing the greater works. Our Lord and Saviour did not win the battle at the cross to be outdone by the enemy – He will demonstrate His full victory at the cross in our generation – and incredibly He has chosen to do that through us.
Isaiah 60:1-3 “1Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” This scripture is being fulfilled before our eyes today. Some have waited for decades to see the day we have now entered. While the gross darkness in the world and on the people is clear for all to see – we must all now prepare for a level of glory none of us have ever experienced before.
How Do We Prepare? – Focused Time With Jesus
As Joshua said before entering the Promised Land, Joshua 3:4 “We have not been this way before”. None of us know exactly what this next phase in history will look like. However, I believe there are some things we can do to prepare our hearts in a practical sense. The priority for every believer right now is fixing our eyes on Jesus. Hebrews 11:6 “God rewards those who diligently seek Him.” Complete focus and devotion to Jesus is the key. Extended time should be set aside for Him in the word, worship, prayer and importantly waiting on Him for long periods. This will help us refine our hearing of God’s voice for the huge shift that is around the corner. Here are some reminders and tips:
- Prioritise fellowship/time with Jesus, reducing time spent on other things
- Ask God to prepare your heart for what is to come/ask God for your purpose
- Spend extended periods waiting on God/Worship
- Ask God to remove all limitations from our mindsets
- Spend extended time reading His word/Meditate on His word
- Intercession/Learn spiritual warfare or go deeper if needed
- Repent of any area of sin and hindrance asking God to set you free
- Communion on regular basis
- Connect with other believers who will deepen our faith
- Prepare our harvest nets/mass discipleship programs
Vessels of Honour or Common Use – You Choose
Whether we are ready or not a Tsunami of God’s glory is about to sweep the earth. This is really it and it is no longer sufficient to talk the talk as believers – it’s time to walk the reality of what we believe. 2 Timothy 2:20 “In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” The bible is clear there are some people that are vessels of honour while others are for common use. Which one we are depends on our response to God during our lives and in particular this moment we are in.
If the things of this world are still a priority in this time or we tolerate various sins and we have not died to self, then we cannot expect to be vessels of honour. Joel 3:14 “Multitudes, multitudes in the Valley of Decision.” Many have a life changing decision to make. We all have a choice whether we want go into the Most Holy Place or stay Outer Court believers. We have a choice to be spectators or participators. In Judges 7:3 The Lord said to Gideon’s Army: “Anyone in the army who is fearful and timid should leave the mountain. 22,000 left and went home.” We have a choice to say no to what God is doing like the 22,000. However, God always has a remnant who will rise up when others will not. The world stage is set in the Day of His Power and He has given us all an invitation. Will you accept His invitation in one of the most significant moments in history…
