In the years when Israel was wandering around in the wilderness, they were required to follow the cloud every time it moved. So every year when the cloud moved they had to pack everything up and transition to another place on their journey.
Each time they would transition, it required not only moving everything, but also being able to carry everything with them that they had accumulated from that season. As a result, there were many who would hang out and lag behind (or even attempt to stay where they were) instead of following the cloud. The problem is that those who stayed behind or took their time moving, were wiped out by Amalek.
“Remember what Amalek did to you on the way when you had come forth from Egypt, how he did not fear God, but when you were faint and weary he attacked you along the way and cut off all the stragglers at your rear. Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess as an inheritance, YOU SHALL BLOT OUT THE REMEMBRANCE OF AMALEK FROM UNDER THE HEAVENS; you must not forget.” (Deuteronomy 25:17-19)
On your journey in Christ, there’s always going to be the temptation to camp out in a place (at least in the spiritual sense) where God is doing something. We can see Him move in incredible ways at times and because of the desire in us for stability and rest we often want to settle down and get comfortable, however it’s often at these times when the cloud moves on and we either didn’t see it or notice it.
At that point, the spirit of Amalek (which I think is like a religious spirit) comes in to take us out. Amalek has no fear of the Lord, it attacks when you are weary and faint. It also substitutes a form of substance in the place of the substance. So instead of having Godliness (being like, acting like and looking like God) you adopt a “form”. It looks like it, sounds like it and even acts like it but it’s empty.
“Having a FORM OF GODLINESS, BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF: from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:5)
The Lord doesn’t want you taken out by the enemy, or adopting a form of Godliness in the place of real relationship with Him, so we need to stay in the place of personal intimate relationship with Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, so that when He moves, we move with Him.
The Wilderness isn’t designed to be your home! The Land filled with your promises is ahead of you, not behind you! Too many people are trying to live on yesterday’s manna and the incredible miracles in the past, but if you move with the Cloud when He moves, your todays and your tomorrows will be filled with Fresh Bread from Jesus’s Hands and new Miracles as well!
Don’t fall prey to the temptation to lag behind where God did something in the past and become complacent. Stay in alignment with the Holy Spirit and when He moves, respond in obedience. The Miracles Have only Just Begun and When You Enter into the Promises God has Given you, Amalek will be completely wiped out!!!
