On September 4 2014, I had been listening to the news about the rise of this terrorist group ISIS and all of their threats and beheadings of Christians and others who refuse to convert to Islam. When I hear things like that, like many others around the world, I run to God for answers and insights as to what we are seeing and where it’s all headed.
I was sitting down in my prayer chair in my chapel and I had a great heaviness on me. I had no words to say other than normal prayer requests and praises to God. I felt like my heart would tear in two with the despondency I felt from God. I felt a silence from Him that was not very pleasant. I was not hearing anything at all. I felt like just getting up and leaving.
So I began to cry out to God again for mercy and to confess the sins of our nation and ask for more time, for a mighty revival to sweep across America and bring about a spiritual awakening so our nation might be spared the horror that is sweeping across the middle east.
Then I heard these words, “Blood upon blood, a blood bath it’s coming.”
I cried and shook my head. I didn’t ask if it was coming to America, but I assumed that is what was meant. I hope not, but Oh dear friend, I’m so concerned that it is so.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.
8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. (Matthew 24:7-8)
3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.”
4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him. (Revelation 6:3-4)
