How Man’s Disobedience Affects All of Creation

Strange things are happening in the earth today. Here are a few examples:

  • Weather patterns are shifting, making it warm when it is normally cold and cold when it is normally warm.
  • Record numbers of meteorites are hitting the earth and even the moon.
  • A massive gathering of dolphins was recently spotted off the coast of San Diego, CA. It was seven miles long and five miles wide.
  • Local news stations around the world are getting reports from citizens regarding strange sounds.
  • A giant sink hole recently opened up right under a house and swallowed up a man while he was sleeping in his bed. The man and his bed fell over 100 feet into the hole. Rescuers went into the hole but were not able to find the man.

You can easily get more details on any of these events with a Google search. This is just a short list. There are many more examples. The world calls these things “acts of God.” Not knowing any better, people blame God for everything that happens. But God is not the one who is causing these things to happen.

So why are these things happening? You won’t hear the answer from the secular news media because they only look to natural explanations. The Bible has the answer.

Listen to the word of the Lord, O sons of Israel, for the Lord has a case against the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness or kindness or knowledge of God in the land. There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing and adultery. They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and everyone who lives in it languishes along with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky, and also the fish of the sea disappear. (Hosea 4:1-3 NASB)

This scripture passage from Hosea 4:1-3 reveals there is a direct connection between the creation and man’s relationship with God. When man is walking in right relationship with God the harmony of heaven is released into the earth. What literally happens is the angels of God gain legal access to perform the will of God in the earth.

The will of God is not always done in the earth. That is why Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord’s prayer, “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” God gave man dominion in the earth. If man chooses to walk in obedience with God the land and all of the creatures of the earth benefit as the dominion of heaven is established in the earth. On the other hand, if man chooses to rebel against the Lord and forget His commandments, the dominion of the evil one, the devil, is established in the earth. With his dominion comes chaos, confusion, fear, torment, and all sorts of suffering.

There are things happening in the spiritual realm that are invisible to the natural realm. However, their impact on the natural realm is very real. The acts of man, not the acts of God, will determine who has dominion in the earth. That is why God needs us to choose to follow Him and pray to Him about what is going on here. He needs our permission!

Amazingly, the land, the beasts of the field, the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea all languish when man turns away from God. The Hebrew word amal is translated as languish. It means the creation gets weaker, suffers,  deteriorates, and eventually fails. The crust of the earth decays and eventually fall apart causing massive earthquakes. The beasts of the field endure famines and diseases. Millions of dead fish washed up on the shores of California a couple of years ago. All sorts of bad things are released in the earth as a direct result of the choices we make.

We must connect the dots between our actions and the tragedies occurring around us. Our choices have enormous implications. The world blames God for everything, but the truth is we have no one to blame but ourselves.
