2 Peter 1 Extended Edition

1 Simon Peter, a servant of Yeshua the anointed Messiah, a slave who has given himself up to do the will of Yeshua, to extend and advance His cause, and an apostle, a chosen messenger who has been sent forth with orders, to those who have obtained faith, which is just as precious and just as honored as the faith we have received, having received it in right standing with our God and Savior Yeshua the anointed one.

2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you, that you may receive much more of God’s favor, and abound in increased knowledge of the fact that God in His merciful kindness has accepted you, and that you may have an increased measure of harmony and quiet tranquility as the result of knowing God and Yeshua our Lord, our Master and our owner;

3 Even as his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, that even by His awesome strength and might He has already given us everything there is and everything we need to have absolute fullness in our life, to live our life totally devoted to Him with sincere reverence and respect for Him, and He has given us all of these things simply by knowing Him who has loudly called us to live with Him in his majestic glory, to be seated with Him in the position of the highest honor and to live a life of moral excellence and virtue.

4 By receiving his glory and entering into this life of moral excellence, He has presented to us His exceeding great promises, which come to us at a very high cost and are worth a very high price; so that by these promises, we can become partakers of the very nature and character of God, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust, having fled from the destruction that is coming upon the world as a result of their wrong desires and cravings for things which God has forbidden.

5 And for this very cause pursue these things earnestly and diligently with a sense of great urgency and haste, so that you might furnish and supply your faith with moral excellence and virtue; and then to your moral excellence and virtue add deeper and greater knowledge;

6 And in your greater knowledge add self-control over your sensual desires and appetites; and in your self-control add steadfast perseverance and patient endurance so that you do not swerve from God’s purpose for you; and in your patient endurance add reverential fear and respect for God;

7 and in your reverential fear of God add kindness for your brothers and sisters; and in your kindness for your brothers and sisters add love, the kind of love which is self- sacrificing and inspired by the love of God.

8 For if these characteristics are in you and are increasing, then you will not be lazy, neglecting the work God wants you to do, nor will you be unfruitful, but you will produce good fruit because you have a precise and correct knowledge of our Lord Yeshua the anointed Messiah.

9 For the one who does not have these things is blind and unable to see the eternal things that are far off, he is only able to see dimly the temporal things that are right in front of him, because he has only laid hold of being cleansed and purified from the old sins of his former life when he was apart from God living in error, in violation of God’s laws.

10 Taking these things into account, it would be much better my brothers and sisters that you make haste to work without any delay and with all diligence to take a firm and steadfast hold of God’s invitation to you and of the choice He has made in selecting you to follow Him and fulfill his plans: for if you do these things, you will never stumble or fall;

11 For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua the anointed Messiah will be richly supplied to you and abundantly ministered to you.

12 Therefore at all times I will never stop having it in my mind to remind you of these things, although you already belong to the household of God, and you are stable and firmly established in the truth which is stored up in you.

13 As long as I am in this earthly tent, I consider it right to wake you up and stir you up by reminding you,

14 Knowing that the time is imminent and swiftly coming for putting aside my earthly tent, as also our Lord Yeshua the Messiah has made known to me.

15 And I will also endeavor and make haste that at any time after my departure you will have these things in your hand so you can hold fast to them, possess them, call them to your remembrance, and produce them in your mind.

16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables or clever tales when we made known to you the inherent power and the coming of our Lord Yeshua the anointed one, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty and His greatness.

17 For when He received the honor that is due to Him and a judgment of approval from God the Father, such a voice as this was made to Him with the sound of uttered words by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased.”

18 And we ourselves heard this voice made from heaven when we were with Him on the most holy mountain.

19 So we have the prophetic word made firmer and more sure, to which you do excellently to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.

21 For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will or was the choice of any human being, but men moved and carried by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
